It’s Pride Month! If you’re new here, welcome to one of our favourite times of the year!

Our city comes alive to celebrate diversity, and we’re thrilled to have visitors from all walks of life join us in honouring the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We greet each and every one of you with open arms!

Since we first opened our doors over eight years ago, our priority has always been to ensure everyone who walks through them feels seen, heard, and welcomed.

We believe that promoting animal wellness and the ideals of treating our dogs and cats like family go hand-in-hand with extending that same love and respect to our fellow humans.

Pride Month is a time for deeper reflection, especially on how it’s not always safe for people to live authentically. We recognise the privilege we have here, and we strive every day to be better humans and better allies.

All Pride Month, we’re collecting money for The 519. Follow them in our bio and check out all the amazing work they do. 100% of all donations will go directly to the organisation.

So how can you help?

This month we’re giving away four $100 gift cards, with a draw happening every Friday.

We’re starting the month off straight away with a month-long raffle. Each $5 donation is equal to one entry. You can donate through our webside (link in bio) or at the cash register when you come by to say hi in person. (No purchase necessary.) The draw will happen on Monday, June 30, with the winner getting a $100 gift card for the store.

We’re also posting weekly Instagram competitions on June 6, 13, and 20. Each Friday, a new riddle will be posted, and it will be your job to decipher its clues and follow the instructions!

Everyone who correctly solves that week’s riddle will be given an entry to the monthly draw, with the first 20 participants to prove they’ve solved the riddle also eligible for that week’s draw of a $100 gift card.

Competitions will involve mind-bending riddles and adorable photo ops with your dog as they help us celebrate this important month!

This is why we ask so many questions when your dog is having tummy troubles—we look at the whole system for signs of distress, not just the stomach and intestines. When we’re helping you create a recovery or repair plan, we try to make sure all these organs are supported. If your dog is struggling, let’s work together to find the right diet and an integrative plan for better digestion. Book a phone consultation today!

Sorry not sorry.

Just like us, dogs need ample moisture in their diet to stay healthy and to thrive. Water is essential for almost every function in the body, from digestion and waste elimination, to circulation and temperature regulation. For dogs, consuming moisture-rich foods and having clean, fresh water available supports these vital functions.

Without enough moisture, dogs become dehydrated, leading to issues like dry skin, urinary tract problems, and kidney issues. Longer term, they’ll experience stiff joints and a sluggish digestive system from dealing with low-grade dehydration day in and day out.

Whereas dry food actually takes moisture away from the body, a meal consisting of fresh, whole foods provides it. This is why kibble-fed dogs drink way more water than fresh-fed pups—they’re trying to replace what’s missing in their diet. Ultimately, it’s not enough.

Just as we humans rely on water to maintain our energy and overall health, so do our dogs. They need proper hydration to stay vibrant, active, and free from chronic health issues. Ensuring they get enough moisture is key to their longevity and quality of life.

Feeding dry food? Try these toppers to help increase your dog’s hydration:

🦴 Bone broth
🥬 Fresh grated veg
🥦 Steamed veg
🥛 Yogurt or Kefir
🫐 Berries and fruit
🍗🥚 A little bit of cooked or raw dog food (because every bit helps)

On that note, head over to the link in our bio for a free intro guide to toppers!
