💡 Did you know it takes an average of 7-10 years to get an endometriosis diagnosis? Let that sink in.

Symptoms that deserve investigation, not dismissal:

🚨 Painful periods that interfere with daily life
🚨 Pain during or after s*x
🚨 Chronic pelvic pain outside of your period
🚨 Painful bowel movements or urination during your period
🚨 Heavy bleeding or bleeding between periods
🚨 Difficulty getting pregnant

These are NOT just "bad periods" but your body is trying to tell you something important.

Our concierge team, Carly and Jessie break down why "having plenty of time" can be the most expensive lie you'll ever be told, not just financially but emotionally too.

Your fertility story is uniquely yours, shaped by your health history, genetics, lifestyle, and so many other factors. 🫶

The pill is not a diagnosis. 💊 If you've been prescribed hormones before you were given answers, here's what you can do:

✅ Request thorough testing:
Push for a full hormonal panel not just a standard blood test. This includes thyroid function, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, and insulin levels where relevant.

✅ Track your symptoms:
Start logging your cycle, pain levels, energy, mood, and any other symptoms. Patterns give doctors data they can't ignore, and give you evidence if you need to advocate harder.

✅ Seek a second opinion:
If you feel dismissed, you are allowed to find another provider. A good doctor welcomes questions. A great one actively partners with you to find answers.

✅ Know the conditions that get missed:
Endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, fibroids, and thyroid disorders are commonly under-investigated. Knowing their symptoms means you can name them, and naming them matters.

This week on Laps & Yaps, Carly is fired up about the cost barrier to recurrent pregnancy loss testing.

Inconsistencies on healthcare billing are a frustrating reality. Here are a few tips to navigate the system:

✔️ Ask for a specialist referral - Request a referral to a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) specialist who can order tests through the hospital system, which are more likely to be covered.

✔️ Check insurance coverage - Review your private insurance benefits for fertility-related testing or diagnostic services that might cover some costs.

✔️ Request itemized testing - Ask your doctor which specific tests are essential vs. optional to prioritize what's most important if paying out of pocket.

✔️ Seek second opinions - Different doctors may have different approaches to ordering tests through covered channels.
