🎯 CICS Highlights: York Region Newcomer Youth Dodgeball Tournament—Where Community and Fun Collide!

At CICS, we’re all about fostering belonging—and today’s York Region Newcomer Youth Dodgeball Tournament was a perfect example! 🎉

Held at Bill Crothers Secondary School, this event wasn’t just about dodgeball—though the games were intense! It was about:

• 🌍 Welcoming newcomer youth into a supportive community.

• 🤝 Connecting families to essential resources through our info fair.

• 😊 Creating memories, friendships, and a sense of home in York Region.

A huge thank-you to our partners (CCSYR, York Region, Hong F**k, and more), volunteers, and every young person who brought their A-game. This is what community looks like—vibrant, inclusive, and full of energy!

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting a hiring event in partnership with RBC, featuring openings for Client Advisor and Banking Advisor (Mandarin/Cantonese) roles. The event flyer is attached for reference.

Interested candidates are required to complete the online registration form by scanning the QR code on the flyer. Only pre-screened and selected candidates will be contacted with event details, and our team will follow up directly with those chosen.

The registration deadline is August 27th, 2025.

The Toronto Tenant Support Program (TTSP), funded by the City of Toronto, supports tenants via the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS). We offer culturally appropriate information on tenant rights and responsibilities, connect tenants to resources, provide legal support for rental disputes, and host educational workshops. Collaborating with community partners, we empower newcomer tenants to access legal services and resist bad-faith evictions.

Our amazing participants from the employment program had a fantastic day at Pearl Yorkville Chinese Cuisine in Downtown Toronto! 🌟🏙

This hands-on experience was a wonderful opportunity for them to dive into the culinary world, exploring everything from the bustling kitchen 🔥👩‍🍳 to the dynamic front-of-house service 🤝🍷.

A huge shoutout to the dedicated management team at Pearl Yorkville for providing our participants with invaluable industry knowledge and real-world experience. This tour not only enhances their knowledge but also prepares them for exciting careers in the restaurant industry! 🎓✨
