Our Leaders in Training (LIT): Skills, Certification & Career Launch program, delivered in partnership with the City of Markham, helps youth gain real leadership skills, hands-on experience, and certifications that can lead directly to summer employment.

Youth will receive:
Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification
HIGH FIVE Healthy Child Development Certification
8 hours of placement experience
Opportunity to interview with the City of Markham for Camp Counsellor/Program Staff roles

🍱 Lunch provided + 🚌 YRT tickets covered
👥 Ages 16–30 (Priority: Permanent Residents & Convention Refugees)

It’s a great fit for youth who:
Want to build their resume
Are interested in working with children/youth
Are looking for meaningful summer job pathways

Due to Environment Canada’s ongoing Snowfall Warning for the City of Toronto, York Region and the expected snowfall throughout the day, all Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS) locations are closed today (January 15, 2026)

All in-person programs and services are cancelled for the day to ensure the safety of our clients, staff, and community.

🎯 CICS Highlights: York Region Newcomer Youth Dodgeball Tournament—Where Community and Fun Collide!

At CICS, we’re all about fostering belonging—and today’s York Region Newcomer Youth Dodgeball Tournament was a perfect example! 🎉

Held at Bill Crothers Secondary School, this event wasn’t just about dodgeball—though the games were intense! It was about:

• 🌍 Welcoming newcomer youth into a supportive community.

• 🤝 Connecting families to essential resources through our info fair.

• 😊 Creating memories, friendships, and a sense of home in York Region.

A huge thank-you to our partners (CCSYR, York Region, Hong F**k, and more), volunteers, and every young person who brought their A-game. This is what community looks like—vibrant, inclusive, and full of energy!

We can’t wait to bring more events like this to life. Here’s to empowering newcomer youth and building a stronger York Region, together. 💙

We’re pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting a hiring event in partnership with RBC, featuring openings for Client Advisor and Banking Advisor (Mandarin/Cantonese) roles. The event flyer is attached for reference.
