It’s , and this week we’d like to welcome Levana Lam to the HC team!
Levana Lam is a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) with a bachelors in psychology from McGill University in Montreal and a masters in counselling psychology from the University of Toronto. Levana has worked with everyone from teenagers to seniors in emotionally supportive roles for more than five years, from when she was in high school to beyond her undergrad, which eventually pushed her to pursue a more serious education on how to help support and heal people through psychotherapy and counselling.
Levana aims to create a safe and supportive space for people to explore their inner selves, and work through their hurt and pain in a healthy and practical manner. Her therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and is informed by emotion-focused therapy, CBT, narrative therapy and solution-focused therapy. She is particularly interested in working with youth and young adults who are struggling with school or work, mental health, major life transitions, and relationship issues. As a first-generation Chinese Canadian who also identifies as asexual she is also particularly interested in explorations around identity and what it means to feel comfortable being "you" amidst constantly fluctuating labels surrounding culture, sexuality, gender, etc.
Her perspective on her practice: "People are so, so, so, resilient. I can't help but admire every person I meet because of how much strength I see in every person. I think that sometimes, amidst our rapidly changing and chaotic world, people don't always see just how strong they are. That moment when someone does finally notice though? It's amazing. Being able to a part of that process that got them there? Even better."
Levana offers individual psychotherapy to clients 16 and up at The Healing Collective on Monday evenings from 5-9pm and can be reached by email at levana.lam@gmail.com.
