Questions about attention, memory, learning, or overall cognitive functioning can sometimes feel difficult to understand on your own.

Comprehensive psychological and neurocognitive assessments can help provide a clearer picture of how an individual processes information, learns, focuses, and remembers. These evaluations can help identify strengths as well as areas where additional support or strategies may be helpful.

At Better Life Counselling Center, we offer a range of assessments designed to support informed recommendations for school, work, or daily functioning.

If you would like to learn more about the assessment process or explore whether an evaluation may be appropriate, you are welcome to contact our team.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and many people pause simply because they’re unsure where to begin. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Different approaches exist because people come with different experiences, relationships, and needs.

Understanding the options can make the process feel more approachable and help you find the kind of support that fits your situation best.

If you’re considering therapy and have questions about where to start, our team at Better Life Counselling Center is happy to help guide you through the process.

International Women’s Day is both a celebration and a moment of acknowledgement. Today we recognize the many ways women show up in the world and in each other’s lives. We honour young women finding their voice, courageous women navigating challenges, women who carry responsibilities for others, inspiring women who uplift those around them, radiant women who bring warmth to their communities, pioneering women creating new paths, and elderly women whose wisdom guides generations. We also hold space for women who need support and compassion, and for girls growing into who they are becoming.

Alongside strength and resilience, many women are balancing caregiving, work, relationships, expectations, and their own needs. Much of this effort is unseen. Taking care of emotional wellbeing is not selfish. Having a space to talk openly, reflect, and feel supported can make a meaningful difference.

If you are looking for support or have questions about therapy, you are welcome to reach out to Better Life Counselling Center.

Many parents wait a long time before reaching out for support. Often it is not because they do not care. It is because they are unsure whether what they are seeing is serious enough, a phase, or something they should handle on their own.
Child and youth therapy is not only for crisis. It can help when a child is having a harder time managing emotions, behaviour, school stress, friendships, or major changes. Having a consistent and supportive space helps children feel understood while giving caregivers guidance on how to respond in ways that strengthen connection at home.

If you are wondering whether therapy could help your child, you do not have to figure it out alone. You are welcome to reach out and we can talk through your concerns and possible next steps.

Grief, loss, and crisis can feel especially heavy when you are navigating them far from home or without familiar support.

We are grateful to be partnering with CultureLink to offer a Farsi-language workshop focused on understanding common emotional responses to stress and loss, and learning practical ways to care for your wellbeing during difficult times. This space is intended to be respectful, supportive, and culturally familiar for Iranian community members.

Today our team wore pink to recognize Pink Shirt Day.

Bullying does not always look obvious. Sometimes it shows up as withdrawal, anger, school avoidance, or changes in behaviour. Children and youth often communicate distress through actions before they have the words to explain what they are experiencing.

When adults notice, listen, and respond with care, it can make a lasting difference in how safe a child feels and how they begin to cope.

If you are worried about a child or teen, you do not have to navigate it alone. You are welcome to reach out to Better Life Counselling Center to ask questions, learn more, or book a first session when you feel ready.

Acts of kindness are often seen as small gestures, but their impact on mental health is significant. Research shows that kindness can reduce stress, strengthen connection, and help people feel less alone. These effects extend beyond individuals and into families, relationships, and communities.

In our work, we regularly see how brief moments of care, compassion, and understanding can make a meaningful difference. Kindness does not have to be grand to matter. When it becomes part of everyday interactions, it supports trust, resilience, and a stronger sense of emotional safety.

If you’ve been thinking about support for yourself, your relationship, or your family, this can be a place to start. You are welcome to reach out to Better Life Counselling Center to ask questions, learn more about our services, or book a first session when you feel ready.

02/15/2026

As Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, it’s important to remember that children often communicate distress through behaviour, not words, especially at school.

Instead of saying they feel anxious or overwhelmed, you may notice changes in focus, motivation, behaviour, attendance, or academic performance. School requires attention, social interaction, and performance. For some children, these demands can intensify anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, or learning stress.

When a child feels emotionally overwhelmed, learning becomes harder. Difficulties with concentration, memory, and classroom engagement are often connected to emotional wellbeing. Withdrawal, irritability, avoidance, or acting out are frequently signs that a child needs support, not punishment.

Early support helps children build coping skills, emotional awareness, and confidence. It also helps parents and educators better understand what a child is communicating and respond in supportive and consistent ways. When caregivers, schools, and mental health professionals work together, children feel safer both emotionally and academically.

If you’ve noticed changes in your child at school or you’re unsure what steps to take, you can reach out to Better Life Counselling Center. Our team can answer questions, help you understand what may be happening, or help you book a first session when you feel ready.

Valentine’s Day can bring comfort, closeness, and joy.
It can also bring memories, questions, distance, grief, or uncertainty.

For many people, today is not simple.
And that’s okay.

Emotions don’t follow a calendar. A day centered around love can sometimes highlight what feels missing, complicated, or still healing. Whatever today looks like for you, your experience is valid.

You don’t have to force celebration, and you don’t have to go through heavy feelings alone.
There is space for connection, reflection, and support at your own pace.

If this time of year feels difficult or brings up more than you expected, our team is here to listen.
