Training starts end of March, with regular hours starting April.
Saul's Beauty Shop is "not your typical spa" - we don't think gender norms are necessary, we don't upsell and we think our staff deserves as safe of a space as our clients. We're looking for a bright, observant front desk person who can stay calm under pressure, takes pride in their work and doesn't to struggle to keep a customer service face on.
Duties include:
-Greeting clients
-Cashing out clients
-Watching over our retail section
-Helping cash out customers
-Helping fulfill online orders
-Keeping track of inventory
-Shop chores (laundry, general cleanliness, disinfecting)
-Aiding our estheticians when needed (turning over rooms, grabbing product etc.)
-Booking appointments by phone, text or email (must be capable of proper grammar and sentence structure)
Ensuring the space is up to Saul's standards
-This is a keyholder position - meaning you may open or close the shop alone
-Must be available to work Saturdays and evenings till 7pm. We are closed Sundays & Mondays
- Using Asana to track chore completion
It sounds like a lot, once you get into the swing of things it can honestly be boring at times. Majority of front desk people becoming well introduced to Reddit after a couple months. You'll have a big comfy chair at a desktop computer. Everything you'll be asked to do the owner is also capable of doing, your safety and wellbeing is a top concern. We're looking for someone that does not need to be micromanaged. It's critical that you can prioritize what needs to be done and ensure completion of tasks in a timely matter while being positive for customers or clients. The annoying part of the job is what isn't done will be noticed quickly by your boss. Killing time (but being available for customers) is perfectly acceptable as long as all necessary tasks are completed and you aren't ignoring work tasks as they come up.
We use Asana, Acuity, Squarespace, Vagaro and Google Sheets - comfort with computers (specifically with Windows) is critical.
We are also open for retail with daily 30 min. lunch closures
Some perks include:
-Access to spa services (when allowed)
-Access to discounted products
-When there are no services you'll likely be working alone
-We close on long weekend Saturdays so you can have a real life
-We are an inclusive space and open to criticism where we need to grow
-This isn't your typical spa - we don't think a full face of make up is a workplace necessity if it isn't your jam and prefer if you don't wear shoes that tap when walking (like heels).
-Having a boss who has your back
- Consistent schedule
I would recommend against applying for this job if:
-If you have a nut allergy, as many of our products contain nut oils
-You are not great at being very on time
-You do not believe in equality for all
-You struggle with pronouns or those who don't appear CIS
-You hate swearing, our owner is a very casual swearer.
-If stairs are an issue, as our space does have a basement
- You are not fully vaccinated against COVID
- You cannot wear a face mask over nose and lips for a full shift
Offers start at $16 depending on experience level.
