This week my reading includes Jacqueline Kelleher's lovely guide Nurturing the Family, and I was struck by her metaphor of doula support as a mosaic.

Each colored tile represents meeting a particular kind of need. Some days the pattern needs the calm blue of listening and emotional validation. Other days it’s the nourishing orange of a cooked meal, or the stabilizing black of grounding during a difficult feeding session.

What stands out most is that my role as your doula isn't only to hand you the tiles you ask for. It is to observe what needs I am meeting and how your mosaic shifts over time.

🔄 Postpartum is dynamic. What you needed last week might not be what you need today. As we work together, I will reflect and assess the overall balance of colours in support I'm giving so I can be proactive. I can suggest tools, resources, or specialized referrals that fill in the gaps before exhaustion or overwhelm take over.

The goal? To ensure your support is truly wholistic and adaptive, preserving your family's stability and autonomy every step of the way.

You don’t have to know what every piece will be, and you certainly don't have to build this mosaic alone.

If you are ready for postpartum support that adapts to you, click the link in my bio to book a free consultation, or send me a DM with the word MOSAIC and let's chat.

Giving this sweet selfie a home on the grid ❤️

My mom has been visiting from BC for the last three weeks, and her presence has been a deep breath of fresh air. Between caring for my son while my husband and I traveled and the connecting moments since we returned—coffee dates at walks through Brussels, and games of cards—my heart is incredibly full.

It’s made me reflect on my doula origin story.

When my son was born many years ago, my parents came to help for a month. We all went down with the flu, one by one. While I was weak and overwhelmed, my mom was the steady force. She kept us fed, ran endless loads of laundry, and taught me how to breastfeed in a side-lying position so I could get more rest.

She nurtured me so I could nurture my baby, and that helped me find my feet. When it was time for them to return home, I was ready to parent on my own (as ready as you get).

As I continue my readings for my postpartum doula certification, I am struck by the truth that we cannot serve from an empty tank. Compassion can only be given when it has first been received.

As winter loosens its grip drop by drop, I am filled with gratitude for this line of work. I want to provide the kind of support that fosters resilience—the kind my mother gave to me.

🤍 How We Can Work Together:
Whether you are in the thick of the "fourth trimester" yourself, or you are watching someone you love navigate those early weeks from afar, I am here to provide that steady, nurturing presence.

For the Mother: If your postpartum reality feels heavy, let’s fill your tank. Investing in doula support is an investment in your recovery, your intuition, and your peace of mind.

For the Village: If you want to support a loved one but can’t be there to run the laundry or hold the space yourself, consider gifting a support package. It is the most practical and profound way to say, "I see you, and you deserve to be cared for."

Click the link in my bio to explore my support packages or send me a DM to chat about how I can support your family (or a family you love).

If you’re in your third trimester, you know the "mental load" is getting real. 🧠

I’m finalizing a new Postpartum Planning Workbook designed to break down the big transition into 6 bite-sized topics (think 10–15 minutes each). No fluff, just the essentials, culminating in a one-page summary for your fridge.

I’m looking for a few expectant moms to "beta test" this PDF.

In exchange for early access to the full workbook, all I ask is for your honest feedback on whether it felt helpful and manageable.

Want to join the test group?

What does a postpartum doula actually DO? The specifics will vary client by client but the outcome is always meaningful support, so when I have to really boil it down my answer to the question is "I help in the home of families with newborns" ✨ I come to YOU and I am there for whatever you need on that day, from a listening ear, to help with the baby, to giving you peace of mind to take a real shower and nap in fresh pjs.

Please share this with anyone you know who is expecting or even recently postpartum! In this day and age we can all use a little real talk and human connection ❤️ it's over 3 minutes so meta won't recommend it to anyone who doesn't already follow me.

I have availability through the end of Jan and early Feb, and then I will be out of Canada and pretty offline for the back half of Feb so now is the perfect time to reach out for help feeling GREAT about your postpartum support plan - no charge and no tricks, just a full heart that wants to see new mamas thrive ✨

Being unscripted on the internet is a scary thing, but so is hiring someone from the internet to help you through a vulnerable time when you've just had a baby.

Planned/polished content and information is still part of my social media goals, but I also want you to know I'm just me!

In August I completed a one-year program through Mohawk College to support breastfeeding. This certificate represents 126 course hours covering basic anatomy and physiology of human lactation, assessing and managing difficulties related to infant suck and milk transfer, and examining the effects of various infant and maternal issues on breastfeeding including premature birth, birth trauma, pregnancy and labor complications, and weaning practices.

I learned a lot! This series of courses exceeds the lactation education requirement for doulas and meets curriculum standards for individuals seeking certification as a lactation consultant with the IBCLC.

Today, my certificate arrived in the mail and I had to laugh. Did I know the program was called breastfeeding? Yes. Did I think the certificate was going to say just that? Honestly, I did expect a few more words to make it clear 😅

Vitamin D supplementation for breastfed babies is important because breast milk doesn't provide sufficient vitamin D🙏

I suggest keeping your vitamin D close by where you nurse at a specific time of day to help you be consistent.

Vitamin D is often a good vitamin for grown ups too - postpartum is a good time to rebuild your body's nutrient base and establish healthy habits 🩷
