It’s $5 Friday, friends! 💙

Today we are raising funds to help cover hospital parking.

When people think about the cost of cancer, they often think about treatment.

But there are so many other days that bring us to the cancer centre.

Blood work days.

Oncologist appointments.

Scan days.

Therapy appointments.

Over weeks and months they add up quickly and our pass needs a refill.

If you are able, please donate $5 today and sharing this post to help lighten our financial load while Dylan continues treatment.

Your support helps cover the real, everyday costs that come with this fight. 💙

This little boy had plans.

To ride his bike until the streetlights came on.

To beat Bowser.

To read Stephen King books, blast music and imagine life's adventures ahead of him.

Like every child, he assumed he had lots of time.

As an adult he carried that assumption.

But at age 39, Dylan was told he had cancer. That it had mediatized through his body. It was terminal and his outlook was 5 years.

The time and dreams he had were pulled out from under him.

Colore**al cancer is on the rise in adults under 45. Too many are finding out far too late.

Everyone deserves the chance for their future to be longer than their diagnosis. Early detection can change everything.

Video games have always been part of Dylan’s life. 🎮

Long before cancer, hospital bracelets and medication schedules.

Now, on the 'good' days where he has enough strength to make it to the couch, they give him something this illness has taken from almost every other corner of life:

Control.

In a game, he can make decisions.

He can try again.

He can take risks even when the odds are stacked.

Real life right now does not work that way.

Most days the only choice Dylan feels he has control over is whether he keeps pushing through another round of treatment.

On the days he can pick up the controller, it means his body has given him a small window to feel like himself again.

To us, that's a win 🏆

What’s your go to game these days?

It’s $5 Friday.💙

Treatment can make eating difficult.

Some days Dylan can only manage a protein shake or a bit of jello.

When he regains any appetite, we want him to have access to the kind of food that helps his body feel supported.

We’re talking smoothies with full fat and protein, fish, pickled vegetables, fresh fruit, and as many greens as Alexandria can sneak into the meal.

This week’s $5 Friday is going toward a healthy grocery order so those options are on hand when Dylan is able to eat.

If you're able, help keep nourishment in our reach by e-transferring $5 to donationforbattens@gmail.com or head to the link in our bio to send a Mama Earth Gift Card.

Colore**al Cancer Awareness Month is not about a colour on a calendar for us.

It is about symptoms that should never be dismissed.

It is about not brushing off red flags.

It is about insisting on answers.

It is about requesting the colonoscopy.

If something feels off, do not wait.

Do not let reassurance replace investigation.

Screening saves lives. Period.

Awareness is not just a ribbon. It is action. 💙

Tonight, he takes the last oral dose of this cycle.

There is always a pause before he injests them.
A moment where the weight of what this is, and why, settles over everything.

I hold my breath without meaning to.
Because the truth is, his willingness to keep going is not something I take for granted.

This is what perseverance actually looks like.
A quiet, relentless choice to continue.

It’s $5 Friday. 💙

In a season of being down one income and frequent low balance warnings, past due bills add a whole new layer of stress to battling cancer.

Small acts, multiplied across a community, carry real weight and that's why $5 exists on DylanStrong.

If you have $5 to spare today, we would be deeply grateful. Sharing this post helps just as much by extending its reach.

In 2025, 25 adults died from colore**al cancer every damn day.

It is now one of the leading causes of cancer death, and rates are rising fastest in adults under 50.

Screening saves lives, but too many people are told they are “too young” or that their symptoms are not urgent.

A colonoscopy is not excessive. It is preventative. It is diagnostic. It can find cancer early, when treatment is most effective.

Symptoms to take seriously include:
👉Persistent changes in bowel habits
👉Blood in stool or re**al bleeding
👉Unexplained fatigue or weakness
👉Ongoing abdominal pain, cramping, or discomfort

These symptoms can have many causes, but they should never be ignored.

Do not let age guidelines silence your instincts.

Advocate for your health. Push for screening. Early detection changes outcomes.

Spring training has begun! ⚾

Baseball has always been part of Dylan’s rhythm and now the games give him something to look forward to. Something outside of appointments, medications, and cycles.

We’ve already picked a new favorite player and are manifesting for the stars to align for Dylan to get to a game this summer! ⭐

Let's Go Blue Jays!
