People often come in to our clinic presenting with joint pain. Our physiotherapist has a few words of advice in hopes of helping to relieve pain and prevent further injury.
1. Immediately address initial onset of joint pain, it is unlikely to go away with time. No pain, no gain does not apply here.
2. Joint pain in your lower extremities is often related to improper biomechanical alignment and muscle imbalance (often corrected by orthotics and proper footwear).
3. Preventative therapy is key to managing possible onset of age related change and predisposition to joint pain.
4. Low impact activities such as swimming and biking can be more beneficial than high impact activities like running which are prolonged and repetitive.
