Are you one who thrives on Mondays, ready to kick start your week, with new ideas, goals, and activities ready to delve in starting your week off with a 6 am run, gym or yoga, OR are you one who likes to ease into the week after a jam-packed weekend of endless activities, family visits, house chores, kid activity and drop off only to have your Mondays as a reset to do it all again?

Either way, these 9 poses you can do to kick start your energy, for those who want a hard hitter style, hold each pose for 5 rounds of breath and do the following:

After Pose 5 - 2 Rounds Surya Namaskar
After Pose 6 + Plank - Hold 3 Breaths. + Lower to Cobra, Hold 3 Breaths - Repeat from Pose 6 - 3x
After Pose 7 + Vinyasa Flow 3x + Side Plank Each Side 3x
Come to Seated Continue with Pose 8.

Taking a simple series of poses as your template with a sprinkle of additional poses can create a new sequence.

Settling back into new routines this Fall including better sleep habits and routines and be tricky.

Breathing exercises can be beneficial to help us wind down and stay relaxed during our routines.

To make getting to sleep easier, many popular breathing exercises can be helpful. Some are modern takes on traditional practices. For kids and adults!

Pranayama is a traditional form of breathing pattern to bring wellness and control of our breath to reduce many ailments.

But in North Amercia, we always have to modernize or take claim for these ancient practices.
Regardless of it’s origin, simple breathing techniques can help quiet the mind and allow for soothing slumber routine.

Give this a shot, laying your back in a comfortable position..

The ‘4-7-8’ Breathing Exercise can make you fall asleep pretty quickly.

This breathing practice, also known as the ‘Relaxing Breath’ supports a better night’s sleep, with just five simple steps and can be performed anywhere and everywhere. Based on an old Indian practice

Lets try it out!

Step 1) Make a whooshing sound by exhaling completely through your mouth.

Step 2) Close your mouth and quietly inhale through your nose, counting mentally to 4, ( kinda like 1-Mississippi, 2-Mississippi… nice…and…slow)

Step 3) Hold your breath for 7 seconds.

Step 4) Exhale by making a whooshing noise again, for a count of 8.

Step 5) Repeat this cycle another three times, so in total for four breaths concentrating only you the sound and vibration of your breath.

This method is useful for getting to sleep and is also excellent for grounding in times of anxiety or stress.
