One of my many favourite quotes, that I have featured on my website, is from the American Psychologist Abraham Maslow, ‘In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.’

Evy talks about how we can connect to our strength by doing things that make us feel uncomfortable. Sometimes life brings these opportunities to us without our consent and sometimes we choose to grow, change or try something new.

I have always been a fierce supporter of people following their dreams, no matter how far fetched they may initially seem. None of the people who make great change did so by playing it safe and choosing to engage in the same patterns day in and day out.

That being said, we must first find safety within ourselves and those around us for these thoughts of dreaming big to feel at least semi attainable instead of terrifying and delusional.

I am grateful to carve out space for my clients where I can reflect their strength, power and ability to grow and do things their younger selves may have never imagined possible. So they may go out and make a difference for themselves and those around them.

Self-care is activism, please never forget this

The Power of the Pause

Working around everyone’s feeling around safety during these times had added another layer of challenge to therapy.

I like to view challenges as opportunities to get creative.

Today I had another park session with a client, because we wanted to try out a somatic intervention.

We were both blessed with some learnings and a very Cinderella like experience with birds and squirrels surrounding us as we grounded what was coming up into the snowy earth

Neuroception, on line always, trying to see if a person or place is safe.
Without safety there is little hope for connection.
