Treat Your New Business Like a baby!!
I wanted to share a bit of my journey so far, especially for anyone who’s still early in the process like me.
So far, I’ve worked with 7 clients, and out of those I’ve been able to secure one weekly and one bi-weekly client, which honestly felt like a win. I’ve also started building a small team and hired cleaners, that step alone taught me a lot.
One of the biggest struggles I faced was finding the right insurance. It took time, back and forth, and confusion, but I finally got it sorted. Pricing, though, is still something I’m actively figuring out. A lot of clients out there are looking for the cheapest labour possible, and that’s hard when you’ve invested real money into your business, systems, insurance, and people. Cheap pricing just isn’t sustainable.
I’m still growing, and I’m definitely still making mistakes and learning from them.
Recently, I underpriced a deep clean, and while it stung, it reminded me that mistakes are part of the process, not a sign to quit.
Sometimes when I’m on the road, I look at buildings and think, “Who’s cleaning all these places?” And it reminds me that there are clients for every single one of us. The real question is where to find them and which platforms actually work.
I was talking to my sister the other day, and she said something that stuck with me: this business is like a baby. Growth doesn’t just happen overnight — it’s a process. You nurture it, you make mistakes, you learn, and over time, it grows.
I’m still here, still learning, still building — and I’m choosing not to give up.
