If you are postpartum and you’ve been experiencing thumb pain when feeding or while lifting your baby, you're not alone..

That sore, achy feeling at the base of your thumb? It’s likely Postpartum Thumb Pain (aka “Mommy’s Thumb”) and it’s a common condition caused by the repetitive, sustained positions we hold while caring for our little ones.

Here are 3 simple ways to care for your thumbs while you care for your little one:

✨ Try the scoop-and-lift technique by keeping your thumb closer to your palm and your wrist in a neutral position while holding your little one. Small shifts can make a big difference.
✨ Add in gentle mobility once pain begins to ease. As healing begins, your physiotherapist may guide you through pain-free thumb and wrist exercises to maintain mobility and gently build strength.
✨ You can wear a thumb spica brace to give your wrist and thumb the rest and ergonomic support they need especially during nursing, diaper changes, or when carrying your baby.

You don’t have to live with pain in silence.

At Vital, we’re here to support every part of your postpartum journey including your wrists.

No matter whether you are in perimenopause, menopause or post-menopause, you may have noticed some changes to your s*x life.
Some of the frequently asked questions we are asked at VItal:

“Is s*x supposed to feel uncomfortable or painful?”
“Why am I not self-lubricating?”
“Why does it feel less sensitive?”

You also might ask yourself, “Why am I not in the mood for s*x?”

We’re here to remind you that these concerns are absolutely normal and that there is nothing wrong with you. Through each stage before and after menopause, changes in the tissues in your va**na and v***a are expected!

It's no surprise that a combination of these changes can have a negative impact in the bedroom. The good news is that you’ve come to the right place.

That’s why we have come up with a list of all the key ingredients you NEED in order to take charge of your s*x life.

Your new best friend: L**e - L**e can enhance pleasure, reduce pain, decrease friction, and is easy to customize by exploring different types starting with water-based options if you have sensitive skin.

Spice things up! - If your usual routines don’t feel as good anymore, exploring new toys, media, or extended foreplay can help bring excitement and satisfaction back into your intimacy.

Pelvic physiotherapy - Pelvic physio can help by teaching you about your pelvic floor, offering relaxation and breathing techniques, and supporting you through your entire menopause journey with personalized care.

Because you deserve pleasure, confidence, and comfort at every stage.

We're here to help through your full menopause journey.

If you've been quietly dealing with your middle-of-the-night bathroom trips, you are not the only one, and you do not have to live with it because you are “a light sleeper” or, “getting older.”

Every time you wake up to p*e, your sleep cycle is broken, pulling you out of the deep, restorative sleep your body needs.

If waking at night to p*e is an issue for you, here are three simple strategies that have helped so many of our clients:

1. Keep a Fluid Diary - Track what, when, and how much you drink, aim for most of your water earlier in the day, and reduce evening caffeine, alcohol, and bladder irritants.

2. Practice Better Sleep Hygiene - Improve your sleep by keeping a consistent bedtime, limiting screens before bed, creating a cool, dark sleep space, and speaking with your doctor if perimenopause symptoms are disrupting your rest.

3. Train Your Bladder to Wait - If you wake with the urge to p*e, pause for five minutes, breathe deeply, avoid checking the time, and let the urge settle before getting up.

A pelvic floor physiotherapist will help you retrain your muscles both to release when they need to, and to hold when it counts.

With the right support, you can sleep better, feel more in control, and get back to waking up energized instead of exhausted.

You deserve rest that actually restores you and helps to make that possible.

Congratulations, Mama – you just had a baby!!

Between the highs and lows of having a newborn, you probably have not had any time to even think about moving your own body.

Adding exercise into your daily routine is important for everyone but especially for new mothers.

There is so much confusing information about best practices for postpartum exercise.

When you are ready, here are our tips for navigating the world of postpartum fitness:

✨ Rest - Yep, that’s the first step. You’ve just been through the biggest physical event of your life. Let your body recover before you return to exercise.

✨ Breathing - You can start healing before your 6-week check-up by learning to breathe with your diaphragm and connect to your inner core.Working with a pelvic health physiotherapist can help you learn how to breathe and engage your core safely in early postpartum.

✨ Walking - Walking is cheap and a great way to start including movement into your day, AND you can do it with your little one! It’s low impact and feels great! Make sure to be mindful of your posture while walking with the stroller or carrier. Keep your shoulders back and ribs over your hips.

✨ Start Slow - When you are finally ready to start to exercise, whether it be strength training, pilates, running, yoga, or any other type of activity, you must take it easy!
Your body is a beginner body-regardless of the level of fitness you had achieved prior to birth. Start with light weight, lower intensity or a shorter amount of time when you start until you feel comfortable. With consistency, you will build up your strength and endurance over time.
