Times for our Grand Forks screening next Friday, October 24 at the Gem Theatre!
All proceeds from the screenings will go to support our Snslxcin (Sinixt dialect) Language Revitalization Program.

Some information about the films:

Take It To The Water (12 minutes): Through rich sounds and beautiful images of the mountain-waterscapes of the Sinixt Təmxwúlaʔxw (homeland) in BC, Canada; the film invites us to deepen our relationship to Water. Sinixt Matriarch Marilyn James shares this indigenous practice and a group of children reflect on their experience of taking it to the Water.

Beyond Extinction: Sinixt Resurgence (60 minutes): Spanning over 25 years, Beyond Extinction: A Sinixt Resurgence is a visually rich and deeply moving documentary that follows the resurgence of the Sinixt people—whose traditional territories stretch across what is now southwest British Columbia and Washington State, territories divided by a colonial border.

Snk'mip: Dig Deeper (60 minutes): As an idealistic conservation group strives to restore a damaged wetland and tensions escalate with local off-road motorized users, an unexpected revelation uncovers the site's ancient Indigenous heritage, propelling them on a transformative journey of reconciliation with the Sinixt People and reshaping perspectives on land stewardship.

People who find themselves in toxic relationships may share common characteristics, patterns, or unresolved wounds that make them more susceptible to unhealthy dynamics. Here are some common traits and underlying factors:
1. Deep Empathy & Over-Giving
🔸 They are natural nurturers who prioritize others’ needs over their own.
🔸 They may excuse or justify toxic behaviors in an attempt to "fix" or "heal" the other person.
2. Low Self-Worth & Unresolved Trauma
🔸 They may struggle with self-esteem and believe they are unworthy of a healthy, loving relationship.
🔸 Past trauma, especially from childhood, can create subconscious patterns of attracting emotionally unavailable or toxic partners.
3. Fear of Abandonment
🔸 They may stay in toxic relationships even when they recognize the harm, believing it’s better than loneliness.
