New toy added to our collection!

Every item we choose is thoughtfully selected through research and care. Representation in the play therapy space truly matters. We include toys and figures that reflect diverse cultures, races, family structures, and abilities. For example, one of our newest dolls includes a cochlear implant.

When children see themselves and their loved ones reflected in play, it creates powerful moments of connection: “That looks like me” or “That reminds me of my grandma.” These moments support a child’s sense of belonging and being seen in the world.Representation in play also helps gently introduce diversity, empathy, and understanding through a child’s natural language, play.

Kids notice change quickly, and even positive changes, like moving into a brighter, bigger space, can stir up big feelings. 🌈
Some of our little ones shared how they feel about our upcoming move: excited, nervous, curious… and everything in between.

At Family Tree Therapy, we honour all of those feelings.Change can feel overwhelming for kids, especially when routines shift or familiar spaces look different. This is why we take time to prepare them, create predictability, and welcome every emotion with care.

As we get ready to settle into our new home, we’ll continue to make therapy feel safe, playful, and fun, no matter the address. 🏡💛

It’s Friday, which means it’s time to shout out to our furry therapist, Winston! 🐾

He loves cuddles, tug-of-war, and even being a ‘puppy patient’ in a game of doctor during sessions. The office is brighter with this little guy around! 💛

🌈Big feelings can build up in little bodies. This exercise helps kids take deep breaths, feel their emotions, and then rip the paper to let it all out. It’s a fun, safe way to show that it’s okay to feel mad, sad, or frustrated, and that there are healthy ways to let those feelings go. 💛

Our new sand trays are being handmade with so much care 🪵💛In play therapy, the sand tray offers children and adults a safe space to explore emotions, create stories, and find healing, one grain at a time. Also the carpenter is my husband🙈

🎃Halloween isn’t just about candy, it’s about creativity, courage, and imagination. When kids dress up, they’re exploring identity, emotion, and storytelling through play. This year, look beyond the treats and notice the magic of make-believe. ✨

Every behaviour is communication. 💛

By slowing down, noticing the feeling beneath the reaction, and offering connection first, we help them return to calm.

Then, once they feel safe again, we can gently guide them toward the boundary or skill they’re still learning.

Connection isn’t letting things slide, it’s making sure our support can actually be received. ✨
