The human body holds its stories in layers, each one woven through a different depth of fascia. The superficial fascia, the deep fascia, and the visceral fascia form a trilogy of emotional memory, nervous system response, and structural intelligence. Together they shape how we feel, how we move, and how we heal. In the Body Artisan approach, we honor each layer with its own language of touch, because each one carries its own form of truth.

The superficial fascia is the most expressive layer, rich in sensation, lymphatic flow, temperature shifts, and emotional reactivity. This is where we feel social emotions, fears, overstimulation, and the subtle “weather” of the nervous system. It responds instantly to the world. Myofascial Flow is the perfect modality for this layer, because its slow, wave-like movement speaks the language of safety. It invites the skin, the lymph, and the surface nervous system to soften their grip and settle. When we work here, we aren’t just treating tissue; we are calming the emotional atmosphere of the body.

The deep fascia carries a different kind of story. Dense, fibrous, and linked to the musculoskeletal system, it houses compensations, postural patterns, protective contractions, and the emotional imprints formed through repetition, stress, and survival. This is where responsibility, pressure, identity, bracing, and long-held fears often live. Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is the medicine for this layer. It listens for the hyperactive points where the nervous system has built its strongest defenses. With sustained pressure and clear intention, these points release not only pain but old patterns, the ones the body created when it didn’t know another option.

Then there is the visceral fascia, the deepest layer, wrapping the organs like silk. Here we find the emotional roots that run through the autonomic nervous system. Grief in the lungs, worry in the stomach, fear in the kidneys, anger in the liver, and the quiet survival instincts stored in the gut. This layer controls breath, digestion, circulation, immunity, and the deepest rhythms of life. Myofascial Release is the gateway here, because its stillness and depth allow the body to unravel from the inside out. Working with the visceral fascia is less about pressure and more about presence —a listening so deep that the organs respond with ease, warmth, and restored mobility.

When these three layers are understood and treated with intention, the body becomes coherent again. The superficial layer calms, the deep layer reorganizes, and the visceral layer unwinds. The emotional body stabilizes, the physical body finds balance, and the inner systems return to their natural harmony. This is the art of fascia, the art of emotion, and the art of healing woven together. This is the essence of what it means to be a Body Artisan.

The philosophy of my holistic approach to healing

Healing is an ongoing, inevitable part of life

I believe in nature’s wisdom, the wisdom of the body, its ability to harmonize when we give it presence. Also I acknowledge the physical challenges it’s up against - such as gravity, nutritional requirements, adequate time for rest, demands of labour, environmental toxins, the somatic impacts of our emotional experiences and even the psychological pressures of society.
There are so many facets for imbalance
But there is one source energy
At the core of it all, one foundational root from which all our processes extend.
Our breath enables, moderates & empowers
our mind, our peace, nervous system, our regulation, our physiological empowerment, digestion, secretion, oxygenation, craniosacral flow, and our core physical positional limitations in dynamic equilibrium. Even our ability to sense and feel all of these things.
Our breath expands our position
Our lack thereof establishes it
And sometimes the challenges we are up against can make us “hold our breath”
To some extent; often subconsciously
Over time, this will cause fascial limitations that concentrate in the core
Throwing equilibrium off in every moment
And the mere experience of this can encourage our minds to “stay wound”
as our bodies and minds are in constant subconscious communication
But they won’t reach a verdict until you are able to consciously move, feel and breathe into that which we held our breath for
It can be hard to know where to even start when we feel our body has forgotten how to be free
And that’s when we might consider seeking some assistance

I want to offer a helping hand (and some specialized insights) to bring you back into freedom & empowerment of the body & mind

I want to release core restrictions to enable functional breath, and help us get the most out of our breathing so we can breathe fully into what we resist, physically & emotionally… so that it can be experienced, learned from, and let go

I want to be able to approach these concepts that I gravitate toward naturally with some structured education; so I’m excited to be studying bar ashiatsu to achieve the coordination and depth that I desire while being even more efficient, effective and safe for both client & therapist, as well as a course that dives into “redefining the breath” by focusing on full body, core & fascial dynamics involved in breathing optimally 😊 in addition to many other mini courses, classes & readings

The idea that we can’t embody who we want to be until we overcome what we are, ironically hinders you from being what you want

Which can be done in any moment

𝓼𝓮𝓵𝓯 𝓵𝓸𝓿𝓮

I’ve been diving into healing content and came across Brain Ridgway and his gifted articulations of some foundational perspectives about embodying your true (best) self.

Encouraged to share, I’ve noted highlights from one of his free masterclasses - much is said, but the paraphrasing helps to digest a core concept that resonates with my understanding of our bodily experience

what if love is that which is here to arise to discover and meet the need

and you are the self
you are the centre of your universe

Loving self would be acknowledging that you exist and becoming curious about what you need and meeting it

To stay healthy and comfortable in a body what do I need

In order for you to meet your needs, wouldn’t it be necessary for you to first perceive accurately and feel calm so you can accurately perceive what your needs are? What your intuition is guiding you to do
You gotta become sane & calm

You can only become truly selfless after you allow yourself to be fully selfish

Am I being selfish enough that my bucket is so full that I can be generously selfless?

Breath is the most important need
We need to learn how to breathe, there might be ways of breathing that might be more beneficial
Imagine being given 10 cubic centimetres of air to ration for the day
With limited supply, would you be truly living the way you desire to live
Could it be that there’s a certain amount of breath that takes you to being fully alive and fully meet the need for breath

The most fundamental act of self love is to give the body the breath it needs

If you are breathing in the way that serves your body most, you might be more sane and conscious in relating with other people
Effective at digesting and undoing the trauma, the disease

If you were to begin engaging in the most fundamental act of self love that you could ever commit, wouldn’t that begin to spill over into every other area of your life

If there is a way of breathing that’s more beneficial, there’re ways of breathing that would be less beneficial

We breathe less than we need and in ways that are harmful, and it’s to avoid pain
Physical & emotion pain

***any experience that’s shocking to the nervous system can be held by it***

If you learn as a child that expressing your feelings gets you in trouble, the only way to kill your feelings is to kill your breath
You’ve been holding your breath to avoid being hurt, rejected abandoned ignored again

Until you feel and digest those feelings, you can’t heal

You have a thousand little gasps that you haven’t exhaled
All the pain and trauma that’s frozen as energetic blockages in your body and being - you learn don’t breathe and feel them - if you feel them it’s gonna hurt, if you breathe and feel them, you’re going to express them and people are gonna abandon you leave and make fun of you
We are quite literally killing ourselves 24/7 by not breathing enough to digest that sh*t and it ends up showing up on x-rays.
So when someone starts breathing correctly, they automatically begin unmaking/digesting of emotional and energetic causes of trauma in the body

Your body will heal itself if you give it what it needs, and that is self love

disease dissolves in love

To admit breathing is our number one need, (compare food, water, shelter, and air!) and discover the way of breathing that serves and supports your body & consciousness most
Is Self Love

When you breathe as a sane, conscious, present human being, you can actually be able to hear the signals of your universe and actually hear what the people around you are saying and doing and needing

And until you love yourself, how are you going to ever be able to accurately perceive and love others?
It’s that simple

Here on this planet to help brothers and sisters wake up and discover that they’re perfect infinite unlimited beings of love
To begin to wake up, become present, and start to love what they perceived was unlovable so that the whole universe can just be love again 🥰
