Thank you to our long-time referral partner, Third Place Transition House, and all other agencies in our community who work tirelessly to address the epidemic of intimate partner violence within our province.
Domestic violence and sexual violence are deeply connected forms of harm, both rooted in power and control. In Nova Scotia, where rates of intimate partner violence remain among the highest in the country, we can’t address one without naming the other. Every act of coercion, fear, or violation stems from the same attempt to take away another person’s safety and autonomy. Real change begins when we stop separating these experiences and confront the full reality of violence in our communities.
November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Canada. Throughout this month, communities across Nova Scotia take part in the Purple Ribbon Campaign and the 16 Days of Activism, coming together to raise awareness, learn, and take action to end violence.
At THANS, this work continues every day as we support our members and prevention efforts across the province.
Stay tuned for information about community events, campaigns, and learning opportunities happening across Nova Scotia this month. 💜
