STANDARD TIME
NOT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS

Everyone needs to stop saying it’s daylight savings because it’s not!!
Did you know standard time is actually better for your body and your mind, there is a reason it’s the STANDARD.

If we were going to get rid of one of them, the one we SHOULD be getting rid of is Daylight savings (where we Spring forward in the spring).

Our bodies are built to wake up with the sunlight and go to bed when it’s dark. So that’s why daylight savings time doesn’t make sense for your overall health and standard time does. Pushing the sunlight to be around later in the summer months actually screws up your sleep because you end up being up later at night and still have to wake up early in the morning for those who work in the am or have children, (so for those of us above the 49th parallel who get sun in the summer past 11pm it doesn’t make sense to force us to have light later. My body doesn’t want to sleep when it’s sunny out, so if we stayed on standard time, it would be light until 10pm instead of 11pm, then I would actually be able to sleep for a full nights rest.

Who cares that the winter means you have less light at night; it’s freaking winter, it’s cold, it’s wet, it’s miserable, you don’t need to stay up late, let your body sleep like it wants to, that’s why animals hibernate.

The extra hour of “daylight savings” (changing our clocks forward during the spring) in the evening doesn’t actually help you, if you want to have that extra hour of daylight during the winter, do what your body physically wants you to do anyways (if you actually let it do it’s own thing), wake up earlier and enjoy the sunlight.

Standard time was created based on the sun and waking up when the sun comes out, again hence “standard time”.

Anyways, I’ve digressed, my point is, people need to stop with all the daylight savings posts. THIS IS NOT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS.

This is the STANDARD TIME and for the sake of your health it should be the time we keep.

So why do we bother going through the niceties🤷‍♀️

Because we don’t want to look like an ass...

I don’t know about you, but I’d feel like more of an ass if I asked how someone was doing, they told me, and I didn’t have time to ask more or to listen.

So now, when I ask someone how they are, I ACTUALLY WANT TO KNOW.

There are many things you can say if you don’t have time to listen or are just trying to be polite. Swipe left to read my top options.

Do this 1️⃣ thing before the next time you start a workout...

1️⃣Ask yourself why you are doing it

IF your answers is:
💎I ate really bad or went off course yesterday.
💎I want to lose weight
💎I was told I had to
💎I don’t know
💎I am going out today and need to make room for XYZ

THEN you should:

DON’T DO THE WORKOUT! This goes for those who like working out but just don’t feel like it as well.

This doesn’t mean you should sit around on your ass Netflixing your life away. It means you need to find a different way to move your body that you WANT to do because you enjoy it. If the only reason for working out is as a means to an end; it’s not worth it.

So If you don’t workout because of the way it makes you feel, because you crave it, or because you actually want to, then JUST STOP. There are so many ways to move our bodies that don’t include pushing ourselves to exhaustion.

EVERYDAY IS A CONSTANT BATTLE....

How do I take care of everyone I love AND myself?

You naturally are going to take care of others; you want to protect and nurture. The world needs more people like you💕

As a mom of 3 amazing children with various levels of health and abilities I’m right there with you. For years I’ve put my kids before my own needs and never thought twice about it.

one day a flight attendant was doing the whole speel about putting your own oxygen mask on first and it HIT ME. If I keep putting everyone I love before myself I’m eventually not going to be there to take care of them. I’m going to have so many struggles of my own weighing me down that I won’t mentally be able to do it anymore no matter how much I wanted to. I’ve watched this happen to people I care about and am not going to let it happen to me.

So if you are on the same journey as me let’s make a pact as of today:
I ______________(insert name) will put my oxygen mask on first STARTING TODAY. I will do at least one thing everyday that is only for me.

I have put my commitment in the first comment.💕Let’s see yours and tag a friend or share to your stories for those friends that also need to remember this.

Purchasing meal plans only work for the person selling them...

There, I said it.

Let's paint a picture here. You joined a 30 day fitness program and were given or upsold a meal plan. The plan is the same plan given to EVERY other woman give or take some calories. No variety. 

You pushed hard and made it through the 30 days. You did it! Congratulations! It takes a lot of will power to be that strict with yourself. Obviously the meal plan worked exactly as promised. But now what?

You've decided you want to keep losing weight, you don't want to go back to your old ways.

So you:

·   Keep eating that exact same meal plan because you know it works even though it's a pain and uprooted your entire lifestyle.

·   You try to make slight changes to the meal plan to add some variety, but then you notice that the scale starts going back up.

·    You start buying more meal plans because you don't know how to do it for yourself.

This is why I have designed my Signature365Academy; so that I can empower women to be able to take their health into their own hands. You should be able to eat foods you enjoy, and understand how to work those into your goals.

You👏🏻Are👏🏻Not👏🏻Failing👏🏻

Save to remind yourself that our health lasts a lifetime. Taking days to rest and relax, even if you “over eat” does not mean you should just give up or that you have failed.

Taking a day or two or three to do nothing, indulge in some food, and just relax doesn’t mean that your hard work has been wasted.

The goal shouldn’t be about how much weight you can lose in a short amount of time, it should be about living a healthy LIFE and enjoying yourself while you do it.

Do you have a morning routine?

Or maybe you feel that morning routines are overrated?

I used to think they were overrated! I decided one day to make an experiment of it by comparing whether or not my productivity improved throughout the day.

Guess what? When following a morning routine, even a simple one like the example above my productivity and overall mental health increased a lot. 🤯

In the Signature365Academy I teach my diamonds to set up diamond MUSTS, these are 4 things that they will do EVERYDAY no matter what. Even on the days that they have sooo much happening but the day seems to change and they can’t eat any of it done. They can always reflect back on their day and say to themselves “at least I got the important things done”. ✅

Even if it feels overwhelming to start a routine, start with just 1 item. Something as simple as making your bed everyday is a huge accomplishment and can change the tone of your day.

How old were you when you found this out?! Maybe I’m behind, I’m not the greatest of bakers. 🤦‍♀️

We wanted to make cookies, but we had no butter in the house. I knew you could use apple sauce, but we didn’t have that either!🤷‍♀️

We weren’t going to go to the store because, well, -30 🥶.

I will warn you it definitely makes for a fluffier type of cookie, so for a cake may work out even better than your typical oil.

I won’t stop making cookies totally with butter...but, it’s a neat little hack for the next time you don’t have some in the fridge.

How can I make the other people in my life be healthier?

You can’t!

I don’t know about you, but I sure as hell don’t do well when I’m being told how to live my life. Even when well intentioned. 👏🏻

Did you make changes to your life just because someone told you to?

No. It took you time, maybe even years to get to the point when you made the decision to make the changes.

You probably watched someone from afar or someone close to you make healthy decisions and make changes over a period of time.

This is how it will also happen for those you love if they decide to change as well. It’s what has worked in my family.

They will sit back and watch you.

You will be the example that shows them it’s possible.

You will be the person that helps them decide if it’s worth it.

So make sure that you are the right example. Don’t show them they have to do things that seem impossible, like weighing foods, tracking macros/calories, and having to workout everyday. Show them it’s easy to live your best and healthiest life 365 days a year.

They don’t want to feel like they have to completely change their life to be the person they want to be. And you shouldn’t feel that you have to do that either.

You can’t make them change, but you can be the example they need In Their lives. Be an example and show them; don’t tell them.

Now say it again and save it for the next time you are telling yourself your excuses.

“I’m too busy”
Even if you’re not, you are, because that’s what you believe.

“I haven’t been successful in the past, this time probably won’t be any different”
Probably not, because that’s what you believe.

It’s fine and totally acceptable to have doubts or to feel overwhelmed; but when it comes down to it you need to believe it’s possible for you to have a chance.

When was a time you let your mind keep you from doing something you wanted?⬇️
