✨ Welcome to the team, Kara ✨

We’re so honoured to welcome Kara, Manual Osteopathic Practitioner, to Good Medicine Wellness 🤍
With a deep foundation in human kinetics, over a decade in movement-based care, and 7+ years of clinical osteopathic experience, Kara brings a beautifully grounded and intuitive approach to healing. Her work honours the body’s innate wisdom, blending hands-on osteopathic treatment with subtle energy work, intuition, and a truly holistic lens.

Kara’s journey into osteopathy was shaped by her own healing path - one that now informs the way she supports others in restoring balance, awareness, and alignment on physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

We are so grateful to have her multidimensional wisdom, presence, and care as part of our community 🌿
Please join us in giving Kara a warm welcome!

The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) is proud to announce the release of the 13th edition of the She Is Wise magazine, honouring the teachings of the 13 Grandmother Moons as shared by Elders of the Thunder Bay region. Today, on winter solstice, we embrace the spiritual connection and cultural significance this sacred time of year represents for Indigenous peoples.

✨ Welcome Alysha to Our Team! ✨

We’re pleased to welcome Alysha as our Part-Time Administrator. Alysha brings a wealth of experience from working as an administrator across various therapeutic offices and is currently completing her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). Her background supports a strong understanding of confidentiality, professionalism, and client-centred care.

Alysha will be managing our general email (info@goodmedicinewellness.com) and phone line (343-889-2089) and can assist with:
• Receiving referral forms
• Sending and receiving assessment and testing measures
• Responding to general inquiries
• Scheduling or rescheduling appointments
• Opening the office door when you arrive (as our door auto-locks between clients)
• Receiving insurance information, receipts, and other billing-related documentation
And more.

By supporting these administrative and coordination tasks, Alysha helps our team remain focused on delivering attentive, high-quality care while ensuring smooth communication and organization behind the scenes.

We’re grateful to have Alysha as part of our practice and look forward to working alongside her. Please join us in welcoming her! 💙

At Good Medicine Wellness, we offer direct billing to NIHB for mental health counselling, so eligible clients with a band number do not need to pay up front to access therapy.

If you’d like to learn more about NIHB coverage and how it works, this is a great learning opportunity.

Mark your calendars – there will be a Non-Insured Health Benefits education session held Thursday, January 29 at the Mohawk Community Centre.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP with Health Reception at 613-967-3603.

"Reconciliation without accountability is just talk." 🗣️

In her recent op-ed for The Conversation, family physician and Director of the Queen's-Weeneebayko Health Education Program, Dr. Jamaica Cass, calls for real, sustained action to improve Indigenous health in Canada. She writes that reconciliation isn’t achieved through words or audit reports alone. It requires courage — the courage to transfer power, embrace accountability, and take action that truly makes a difference.

✨ Introducing Good Medicine Wellness Foundation ✨

We are honoured to share that the Good Medicine Wellness Foundation has been created as the non-profit arm of Good Medicine Wellness. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to support the healing of Indigenous peoples and communities.

Through this foundation, we are working to:
🌿 Offer cultural workshops and teaching circles to strengthen identity and connection.
🤝 Create healing circles that provide safe spaces for community, storytelling, and growth.
💛 Provide funding for Indigenous peoples who cannot access therapy through insurance, ensuring no one is turned away from the support they deserve.

This is just the beginning. With your support, we hope to raise funds to expand these programs and make healing accessible to all who need it.

Every contribution — big or small — helps us continue this work of cultural restoration, mental health support, and community care.
