Group Remembrance Run on Saturday October 2, at 10am - c̓icʔiiʔis (Combers beach) Parking Lot with Team Tuskuuh Warriors:

Rising Hearts is hosting our first virtual September 30th 5k Remembrance Run for and – remembering and honoring the thousands of Indigenous children stolen from their families and homelands, forced into Boarding and Residential Schools, and the survivors, and descendants.

Run,bike, walk in solidarity! Wear ORANGE on September 30th – October 3rd . Uplift this injustice, demand accountability, fight for healing, and support the heart work.

Pullover

Cozy named exercise for these cold days.

Feeling stiff in the upper body? Want to improve your overhead game (paddling, climbing, getting that heavier box from the top shelf). Moving through full range with weight is a great way to help increase mobility.

1)Set yourself up on a bench, exercise ball or the floor. Grab a weight (stack of books or jug of water works great too!)

2) Engage through the core, think flatten your ribs down, and press your mid back and shoulders into the bench.

3) Press the weight up, and with straight arms slowly lower the weight as far down as you can without arching in the midback.

4) Enjoy that stretch! Hold at the bottom for 2-3sec and return to the top

5) Keep tension in the arms and core throughout the movement.

The Sunflower

A good mix of strength, stability and mobility! Awesome exercise to keep your back and shoulders happy while surfing 😉 Challenge yourself by moving through your full range and work on that body awareness by aiming to return to the same place as you start (no higher or lower).

1)Set yourself up in a high plank position. Be sure to press yourself away from the ground throughout the exercise.

2)Take one arm away to a T position, parallel to the floor.

3) Reach for the ceiling until your hand stacks over your supporting hand.

4) Bring your arm down and reach across the body for the wall on the opposite side. Trying to keep that arm parallel to the ground.

5) Return to your starting "T" position.

Start with 3-6/side and let me know how it goes!
