🚧 Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail Update 🚴‍♂️

SDC’s Yucwmenlúcwu Civil Construction Division continues to make strong progress on the $12.5 million Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail project.

We’re proud to share that the Rosemond Bridge is now complete — a key milestone for the trail. This portion of the work was a true team effort, with collaboration between our Yucwmenlúcwu Civil Construction team and the Splatsin Homes construction team to bring the bridge structure across the corridor safely and efficiently.

Safety remains a top priority. With warmer weather earlier this month bringing more cyclists onto the trail, temporary stop signs were installed at Back Enderby Road after riders were observed crossing without stopping. These measures help protect both trail users and motorists as traffic increases.

Behind the scenes, our crews remain committed to keeping the project moving forward. Recently, on a Saturday near Rosemond Lake, a team member from our Civil Construction team drove the trail to assist and recover a grader after it broke down — a strong example of the dedication and teamwork that keeps this project on track.

This project showcases multiple SDC departments working together to deliver quality infrastructure for our region.

🚧 Splatsin Homes Show Home Update – Vernon Street, Enderby 🏡

Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC) is proud to share continued progress on the new Splatsin Homes show home in Enderby. It’s exciting to see the vision steadily coming to life.

On February 17, the SDC construction team completed the forming and pouring of the strip footings for the ICF foundation — a critical first step in building a strong, durable structure from the ground up.

By February 24, installation of the ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) basement walls was nearing completion, with the final rows placed ahead of the concrete pour. These ICF blocks are assembled, reinforced with rebar, and filled with concrete to create a high-performance, energy-efficient foundation system. The result is exceptional strength, superior insulation, and long-term durability — key features of the Splatsin Homes building approach.

Once poured, these walls will form the solid base of the home as construction continues above grade and the full structure begins to take shape.

Each stage reflects SDC and Splatsin Homes' commitment to quality construction, innovation, and building homes designed to stand the test of time.

We’re proud to share coverage from Rogers TV Vernon of the recent Splatsin Homes Showhome Groundbreaking Ceremony in Enderby — a meaningful milestone in Indigenous-led, community-focused housing.

The ceremony brought together Splatsin leadership, Elders, community members, and partners to celebrate the launch of the Splatsin Homes Showhome, which will highlight high-quality, energy-efficient housing designed to support families and long-term community well-being.

The day began in a good way with an opening prayer from Splatsin Elder Randy William and traditional dances by Julianna Alexander, Bart Thomas, and Helen Duteau, grounding the project in culture, respect, and community.
