What if a choice at 17 could change hundreds of lives? Aldric didn’t know it then — but when he donated blood for the first time at 17, that small choice would become a lifelong one. Since then, he’s donated at least 200 times. In remembrance of family he’s lost. In hope that no other parent has to lose a child. And even for his own sister during her cancer treatment.

In 2014, Tom was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome and needed a stem cell transplant.

Thankfully, he found a match the following year — all the way in Germany — but for others it can be a greater challenge. Patients are more likely to find a stem cell match in a person of similar ancestral background. But our registry doesn't reflect the diversity of Canada’s population.

This winter, groups across Canada are showing what happens when communities come together to give together 👏

From December through January, groups from diverse backgrounds rallied their communities to donate and , hosting events across the country and supporting patients who rely on lifesaving donations.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, Members Church of God International, Dera Sacha Sauda, and the Nepalese Blood Donors Association Canada are just a few of the groups supporting patients with lifesaving gifts and walking away feeling lighter, brighter and better ❤️

Thank you to every donor, partner, and volunteer for coming together to give together this winter.
