We Are Open Again!

We have implemented best-used practices to screen those patients that require treatment at this time. Sanitization protocols, personal protective equipment, temperature readings and physical/social distancing practices have been implemented. All protocols and procedures that are used at our clinic comply and exceed the legislation set forth by the Ministry of Health of Ontario.

Some policies can be found below:

-Only patients with scheduled appointments will be allowed into the clinic. There are no waiting room chairs available at this time.
-We ask that patients arrive exactly at their appointment time to ensure no crossover between patients. Please do not arrive early.
-All patients will be required to disinfect their hands and put on disposable gloves (sanitizer and gloves will be provided)
-We ask all patients to wear a mask or face covering. If you do not have one, we will provide one for a small fee.
-All patients will be required to answer our screening questions to ensure you do not have symptoms of Covid-19. You will be required to sign a document to ensure you do not present with symptoms.
-We encourage patients to use the bathroom at home prior to coming to the clinic. Every time a patient uses the bathroom we are required to perform a thorough clean to ensure it is disinfected for the next use.

If you require our services please do not hesitate to call our office to book an appointment. We thank you for your patience and understanding through these difficult times. We look forward to seeing you!

Dear valued patients,

Please be advised that in an effort to help control the spread of the Coronavirus, the office will be closed until April 5th, at which time we will advise if there is a decision to re-open.

The health of our clients, friends and community are utmost in our thoughts making this decision. We appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best during this trying time.

Yours in sport and good health,

Dr. Patrick Kiely, Dr. Chris Lombardo, and Kim Pagliaro

Dear Valued Patients,

As the environment continues to evolve, the staff at Quaker Chiropractic & Sports Injury Clinic continue working together and external agencies to optimize the health and wellbeing of our patients, their families and staff.

Following the recommendations of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, all non-essential chiropractic will be suspended immediately. Clinic services will remain available for acute care/emergency care situations only.

All patients with existing appointments will be contacted to cancel and to reschedule for a later date. At this time, acute care patients who are already scheduled, along with new emergency cases, will be the only patients scheduled by our clinic.

Emergency cases will only be seen after being triaged over the phone to assess risk and to offer an appropriate appointment time.

Office hours and appointment times have been modified to reduce patient cross-over and interaction while on the premises. We will continue to perform our regular sanitary procedures between patients.

We thank you for your understanding during this time. Our responsibility as chiropractors includes protecting you, your family and all of our community from the spread of COVID-19. Please take the appropriate steps to keep yourself and your families healthy. As new information becomes available we will continue to post further updates.

We look forward to assisting everyone again when it has been deemed safe to return to normal operating hours. As always, we appreciate your trust, patience and your continued support.

Yours in Sport & Good Health,

Dr. Patrick Kiely, Dr. Chris Lombardo and Kim Pagliaro

Side planks!!!!

03/03/2018

Hello Folks, todays post is all about planks. We will show you a range of planks with various devices to add that extra challenge for some. We recommend 3 minutes of total time spent planking with a maximum of 60 sec for an individual repetition. Remember to use your hollow and brace while performing your plank.

Here are the diagonal and bird-dog alternatives for back extension exercises.

02/13/2018

Sorry for the delay getting the next drills out to you. This week it is all about back extension exercises. Remember to perform your Hollow and Brace procedures before you perform the Cobra or the diagonal (Bird-dog alternative).

01/25/2018

Here’s the Level One Bridging Drill. Over the next few weeks we will show you some progressions with bridging. Remember to keep you core tight by preloading with your Hollow and Bracing maneuvers. You want to minimize or prevent shearing forces through your lumbosacral junction which will occur if you're loose in the cage!

01/24/2018

Hello Everybody, Week 2 of our Core Series. Tonight we are going to address squatting and Bridging. Both exercises are very important in developing your posterior chains and pelvic stability. Have fun with them and any doubts about what your doing let us know and we can help.

Hello everybody! Over the next 9 weeks we are going to present to you some core exercises that we prescribe to our back pain patients. This week we are discussing the abdominal hollow (little ‘J’) and bracing (the cinching). These two are the basic building blocks that we start with that are essential to every exercise that follows. Have fun with them and if you have any concerns please contact us at the clinic.

Just as we change the oil in our cars once per month we must also take care of our bodies on a regular basis. As different stressors affect us throughout life, our bodies start to create muscular and biomechanical compensations. These compensations predispose us to future injuries. It often becomes a mystery to people as to why they tend to get the same injuries time and time again. As chiropractors, it is easy to relieve someone of their pain, however we need to address the whole picture when dealing with an injury, which includes addressing the reason why the injury happened in the first place.

If you are someone who deals with intermittent back pain on a regular basis – here is a 5-minute “warm-up” and “cool-down” that you should engage in at least twice per day that can help prevent low back
injuries.
