Durham Forest trail update as of April 12, 2:00 pm. Certainly these trails aren’t rideable, but the ice and snow cover is disappearing quickly. The frost is holding water in many spots. I’ll post another Durham Forest trail update later this week. Please stay off the trails until they thaw out and dry!

Some say it is a late spring. We think this is normal for early April. The local trails at Durham Forest need more time, perhaps another week. Keep in mind that sandy trails dry faster, packed trails take longer to thaw and places with less snowfall ride earlier. Mountain bike season is close; if your local trails aren’t dry try gravel or road!

Trail Day – May 2 at Albion Hills 🌲

Want to see how great trails are built? Join us for a hands-on trail day and be part of shaping Albion. Plus it is a good workout!!!

Bring sturdy boots and work gloves — we’ve got the tools.

10:00 AM start at the Chalet Parking Lot. Lunch provided, but you can leave whenever (typically goes to 2 or 3 pm).

A great way to learn trail design, get some exercise, and give back to the trails you ride.

UCI Compliance Update
In alignment with UCI Level 28.399 international guidelines, a midnight course reversal will be implemented during the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice.

Course Change Protocol
At exactly 12:00am, a horn will sound across Albion Hills to signal the transition.

All riders on course must:
Safely dismount
Rotate 180 degrees
Resume riding in the opposite direction

Course marshals will be positioned throughout the course to assist with a smooth and coordinated reversal.

Technical Rationale
This adjustment has been introduced to:

This aligns with emerging international standards around rider symmetry, directional neutrality, and overnight performance optimization.
Reduce cumulative berm fatigue
Balance left-to-right corner exposure during peak overnight hours
Address gravitational pull influences related to planetary alignment

The 24 Hours of Summer Solstice has officially been taken over under UCI Level 28.399 Certification.

With this designation, UCI racing standards will now be strictly enforced.

Effective immediately for 2026:

Matching team kits are mandatory.
Teams without coordinated jerseys will:
Be issued temporary Chico Racing vests
And assigned a Style Penalty Lap
In addition:
Sock length must meet mid-calf UCI guidelines (measured while seated)
All teams must arrive at registration and the awards ceremony in matching track suits
The official event guide will outline approved logo size and placement requirements

We are committed to elevating the event and aligning with international standards provided by the UCI.

Officials will be conducting spot checks throughout the weekend to ensure compliance.
