Hiring: SLP Assistant

We are looking for a friendly individual who enjoys working with children to join us at Vancouver Speech Therapy. Here at Vancouver Speech Therapy, we value the quality of our services to ensure our clients improve their speech and language skills. SLP assistants are supervised/mentored by an SLP so they feel supported as they treat clients. We are particularly looking for an individual who is able to provide in-home services.

Currently we are offering a full-time contact position.

Job Description:
• Provide 1-2 hour treatment sessions to clients in their home
• Under the supervision of a speech language pathologist, to provide services to children with language delays/developmental diagnoses
• Regularly communicate with a speech and language pathologist about progress and/or concerns about clients
• Document progress after every session with each client, detailing progress
• Sanitize equipment before and after each home visit

Qualifications:
• SLP assistant diploma or related coursework/experience
• Motivation to learn treatment strategies
• Time management and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• We highly recommend applicant has a car as this position requires travel

Hours: Full-Time Salary Position



Job Description:



· Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatments accordingly.

· Evaluate Speech/language test results and medical or background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, and fluency disorders.



· Administer speech/language evaluations, tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairments.



· Record information on the initial evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge of clients.



· Develop and implement treatment plans for problems such as stuttering, delayed language, and speech productions based on own assessments and recommendations of physicians, psychologists, and social workers.



· Design, develop, and employ alternative diagnostic or communication devices and strategies.



· Conduct lessons and direct educational or therapeutic games to assist parents dealing with speech problems.



· Refer clients to additional medical or educational services if needed.



· Communicate with non-speaking clients, using and implement alternative modes of communication



Qualifications:

· Proficiency in computer software commonly used for documentation and report preparation

· Master's degree in speech-language pathology is required

· Experience working with sensitive and personal patient records and information

· A friendly and professional demeanour is required when explaining procedures and processes to patients

· Accountability and attention to detail is essential when handling and documenting important medical information
