Massage therapy has been shown to have positive effects on pregnant people, including a reduction in depression symptoms during pregnancy and postpartum (Field et al., 2009). In a literature review conducted in 2010, women who received massage therapy reported decreased levels of depression, anxiety, leg pain, and back pain. (Field, 2010).
