🎥 An Introduction to Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program (PROP)

The Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program (PROP) was established in the early 2000s to support individuals who wish to live independently in their communities while managing their respiratory care at home.

Operating as a not-for-profit program under Technology for Living (TFL) and fully funded by the Ministry of Health, PROP provides services and supports at no cost to members across British Columbia.

PROP follows a member-directed model of care, offering support such as annual home visits by respiratory therapists, phone and emergency troubleshooting, education, and access to respiratory equipment and supplies. All equipment is owned and maintained by PROP and loaned to members to ensure safety and reliability.

Happy Family Day from Technology for Living!

As we head into the Family Day long weekend, we would like to wish our members, families, caregivers, and community partners a meaningful and restful Family Day. At TFL, we’re proud to work alongside members and their families to reduce barriers and enhance independence.

Family Day is a reminder of the importance of connection, the everyday moments, shared responsibilities, and steady support that strengthen our communities throughout the year. It’s also a time to pause and appreciate the people who stand beside us.

This Family Day, we honour the families, caregivers, and support networks that make autonomy and belonging possible. Thank you for being part of our community.💙

Today, on International Day of Women and Girls in Science 🔬, we recognize the vital contributions of women advancing science, healthcare, and innovation.

At Technology for Living, we are proud to work alongside skilled respiratory therapists, many of whom are women whose clinical expertise and commitment enhance the independence and quality of life of the members we support.

Science is reflected not only in research and discovery, but in the daily application of knowledge, precision, and critical thinking to deliver meaningful, life-changing care.

We remain committed to supporting and celebrating women and girls in STEM, and to fostering a future where innovation and accessibility go hand in hand.

Supporting Youth Independence Through Assistive Technology!

Youth Assistive Technology (YAT) initiative provides innovative technology to youth aged 9–18 in BC with permanent physical disabilities.

In addition to smart home and adaptive gaming controlers, we also support automatic door openers, helping members safely and independently enter and exit their homes.

We provide guidance throughout the application process, assessment, and setup to ensure the technology meets each individual’s needs.
