Welcome this little guy to the team! is a service dog in training who will go on to change a life one day. He won't be coming in to sessions right away but once we know he is comfortable and calm he can definitely be requested to join sessions.
Dogs are so grounding and intuitive, and there is no greater bond that between people and their pets. Did you know the same areas of your brain that light up when you see loved ones light up when you see your animals, and the same with parts of the brain that light up when experiencing grief from losing a loved one. Some people connect better with animals that with other humans and it's because that love they give is so unconditional and they are so present all the time.
Do you have a pet that grounds you?

Some people think trauma can only be those big shocking events but it is much more clearly known now in the field that traumas can be anything that overwhelms our capacity to cope. Everyone’s capacity to cope is so different and it’s all based on our life experiences and various sensitivities and privileges.
Whether a trauma is a big event like a r**e or assault or other events such as being bullied or an unstable childhood, all traumas are valid and can all heavily affect us and how we experience ourselves, the world and others around us.
Whatever your capacity to cope may be, you are doing the best you can with what your resources are in the moment.

With socially distancing, I have never found my connection with nature to be more important. My screen times have gone up exponentially through virtual work and trying to keep social connection when I can’t see people i love in person.
My appreciation for life and the environment has already risen a ton from this pandemic too. I find myself outside more, walking and just taking in the view and the beauty around me. I was already plant based and conscientious about my impact on the environment but now I am seeing how important this conscientiousness is to the longevity of healthy communities. I have never wanted to badly to do a digital cleanse and focus on the beauty around me.
What has this pandemic changed in the way you view the world, your connection to people and nature, and the impact you make on the environment?

It's so easy for someone to tell you what needs to change or what you need to do but a big factor around change is your own readiness and it is so unique to you.
People think change is so easy but there are many barriers, and to change means opening up a whole bunch of other boxes in life. Change brings about uncertainty, traumas, and grief. Change shakes things up and it's uncomfortable and it is totally within someone's right to not be ready or have the capacity to change at that point in time.
I work with a lot of people who don't have a desire to change because they are not ready to open everything up or they don't have the stability to. But it is my role to be with them whether or not they want to to change and support them with whatever their goals are.
Are there things that hold you back from change? .

Welcome to my page!
I started this instagram honestly to get better at consistency with posting things and trying to learn about the social media side of instagram but it has been a balance as I am also trying not to be on my phone as much!!
Finding a balance between technology and staying connected online and then staying connected in real life can be a fine line but I find if I start to get frustrated with being on my phone it is so freeing to just put it away and get outside to walk or go for coffee with a friend.
What do you do to find balance?

The concept of psychological flexibility is one that I have always been drawn to ever since I started to learn about ACT from my first supervisor. It is the idea that if you have clear values and a direction in mind for your life, that when adversity comes your way, you can continue to move forward and not let it completely derail you. It relates to our ability to move towards the things we care about and not be led astray by passing thoughts or emotions. I like the idea that as we move through life we can bend and not break when we face struggle. Because at the end of the day, everyone has challenges and everyone struggles, but life is a lot more meaningful if you struggle but know at the end of the day that you're doing things that matter to you. .
