Throughout February and March, the Mount Pleasant Community Policing Centre volunteers have been busy across all of our programs — from road safety and SpeedWatch check-ins, to community patrols, outreach, and neighbourhood engagement. Our volunteers have been out across Mount Pleasant helping promote safer streets through road safety and Speed Watch check-ins at local intersections. By reminding drivers to slow down and stay aware, they’re helping make our neighbourhood safer for everyone who walks, cycles, and drives here.

Grab a friend and join us on Sunday, March 15th for a feel-good morning in Mount Pleasant.

We’re kicking things off from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a community clean-up around the neighbourhood. Fresh air, good company, and a chance to make a real difference right where we live.

Then we trade garbage bags for pizza boxes 🍕

From 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, we’ll be inside the Mount Pleasant Community Centre for pizza, pop, and some well-earned downtime together. It’s our way of saying thanks and giving everyone a chance to connect after a productive morning.

🌟 Volunteer of the Month – Arneet Hundal 🌟

We’re excited to recognize Arneet Hundal for her dedication, positivity, and impact at the MPCPC.

Arneet has been volunteering with us since August 2024. She joined with a clear goal: to gain real world experience connected to her studies and to give back to the community. Through her time here, she has built a deeper appreciation for the legal and policing systems while making a meaningful difference in our programs.

You may have seen Arneet supporting neighbourhood safety patrols, Speed Watch, community outreach events, clean ups, and office shifts. She especially enjoys outreach initiatives and working with elementary schools, along with helping behind the scenes during office shifts.

Thank you, Arneet, for your energy, reliability, and commitment to the community. We’re grateful to have you on the team 💙

Such a fun and lively Lunar New Year celebration with the yesterday. The energy from the lion dance brought so much excitement to the street, and it was amazing to see the community come together to celebrate. Our MPCPC volunteers loved being part of the festivities and handing out red envelopes to the crowd. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and share in the celebration. January Volunteer of the Month: Lyssette Ramirez

We are proud to recognize Lys as our January Volunteer of the Month. Since joining the MPCPC, Lys has shown consistent care for our community through her work on foot patrols, youth programs, and community safety initiatives. Her calm leadership and willingness to step in wherever help is needed make a real difference in Mount Pleasant.

Over the months of December and January alone, Lys has gone above and beyond by donating over 200 items do be distributed across multiple local organizations in Mount Pleasant, helping support families, individuals, and community partners during a critical time of year. Her generosity, reliability, and commitment truly reflect the spirit of community policing!

Evening patrol complete in the Northwest zone of our boundary! 🏃

Last night our team collected 11 used crack pipes and 5 needles from public spaces. This is the reality on the ground, and why consistent outreach, cleanup, and community safety efforts matter.

We’re bringing Cake & Kindness Day back this February and it’s going to be such a fun way to wrap up our Acts of Kindness week 💗🍰

From Feb 1st–15th, you can drop off hygiene item donations at our office or at any of our participating community partner locations. Then on Feb 15th, we’re turning it into a full community moment at Save-On-Foods at Kingsgate Mall from 10am–3pm.

Come by, say hi, drop off your donations, and grab a slice of cake as our thank you. We’ll have volunteers, good vibes, lots of kindness, and a whole lot of love for our community. It’s the perfect way to spend part of your Saturday while making a real impact.

All donations go directly to supporting neighbourhood residents in need through the MPCC Soup Kitchen.

Kindness + community + cake. We can’t wait to see you there 🤍🎂
