Long QT syndrome (LQT) is a cardiac arrhythmogenic disorder. Diabetic patients with long QT syndrome have a threefold increased risk of cardiac arrest. QT prolongation can lead to sudden death in diabetic patients. Akseera's current studies prove that Cannabidiol (CBD) exerts an anti-arrhythmic effect and protects against oxidative stress.

Cardiac Arrhythmias are malfunctioning of electric impulses in the heart which can lead to heart failure. Leading causes of cardiac arrhythmias can be diabetes, substance abuse, high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, high stress, unhealthy lifestyle among others. Akseera’s current studies prove that Cannabidiol (CBD) may be anti-arrhythmic. This is a major breakthrough in the current world with constantly evolving infections like COVID which are associated with a high incidence of cardiac arrhythmias.

As discussed in our previous post, pollution is one of the many hazards caused by the cultivation of cannabis. Cannabis cultivation can also be highly energy, water and land intensive.

By committing to lab created cannabinoids, we at Akseera are trying to overcome the challenges associated with the growth, extraction and isolation of cannabis to obtain Cannabinoid isolates. Using genetic engineering (Biosynthesis) to create cannabinoids, will enable Akseera to produce consistent and pure Cannabinoids (both major and minor) at a decreased cost, with higher yields. The sustainability of the process is further enhanced by reduced land use, not taking away land from traditional farming.

Minor Cannabinoids may be present in the plants at less than 1% concentration. Therefore, yields through extraction from plant are very low making the process inefficient and inexpensive. Biosynthesis, on the other hand enables, production of high yields at high purity and reduced cost. Check out our previous posts on to know more.
