Kate has been a counsellor with Haven Wellness Collective from the very beginning! She works with children, youth, adults, couples and families. Kate also specializes in trauma, relationships, perinatal mental health and parenting. She is officially accepting both past clients and new clients back in her caseload!

Grief can feel heavier in the holiday season, and so if you are holding grief in your heart - whether it’s a recent loss or one from many years ago, we would love to welcome you to our one day grief support group on December 13th.

This group is facilitated by our team member Chandramalar Mogana Chandran. Malar has a passion to support those who are grieving, and after a successful first group in the summer is offering this opportunity again.

This group is appropriate for anyone 18+ who would like grief support in this season. This is a come-as-you-are opportunity and space to meet you exactly where you are at that day.

The cost is $90 for the 3 hour session, which includes art supplies for a creative opportunity. If you have coverage for a Registered Clinical Counsellor on your extended health plan you may be able to receive reimbursement for this. There are also some limited sliding scale spots - feel free to send us an email to find out if there are any available.

Courtney works with youth and adults both in person and online and specializes in trauma, relationship challenges, attachment and addictions. She is currently accepting clients!✨

Grief can feel heavy, and especially when the loss is sudden, unexpected or tragic, you may feel unprepared to know how to support someone who is grieving. It may feel overwhelming as you don’t know what to say or worry about doing the wrong thing. What matters most in times like these, isn’t saying the perfect thing, but showing up at all.

We created this post - and a longer blog post, as our city is grieving, and you may be grieving yourself, or know someone who is.

Whether someone you love is grieving, or you want to prepare yourself for when you will be supporting someone going through grief - these tips are for you.

Save or share with someone who may need this. You may even send it to someone and ask “are any of these helpful for you right now?” Or “are there other ways I can support you as you are grieving?”

We are heart broken and grieving with the Filipino community and the victims and loved ones who have witnessed or been impacted by the tragedy on Saturday💔

Some members of our counselling team are offering 2 free sessions to those who were at the event, victims of the violence, or family members or loved ones of the victims. Additional sliding scale spots will be available for continued support and counselling. Counselling services are available in English, Mandarin, Tamil and Malay.

We are also offer 2 free physiotherapy sessions - either in-home physiotherapy within the Vancouver area or in our clinic for those injured in the events (3754 W 10th). On-going sliding scale options will be available for those injured if needed. Physiotherapy services are available in English and Spanish. Please visit www.havenhomephysio.com for more information.

Our counsellors are also accepting clients for those who want to process this event, and as registered clinical counsellors are covered by many insurance and benefit packages here. Our counsellors specialize in trauma and are trained in various trauma processing modalities such as EMDR, OEI, Lifespan Integration Therapy, and IFS.

We are thrilled to share that we have a new member of our team: Malar Chandran!!! Malar is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and is offering in person and online counselling services in our office in Vancouver.

Malar is passionate about supporting clients of all ages and uses polyvagal theory, TIST, OEI Therapy and Sandtray Therapy to use a somatic approach to healing in counselling. Malar is born and raised in Singapore and came to Canada to pursue her Masters of Counselling Psychology. Malar provides counselling in English and also loves to converse with clients conversationally in Tamil or Malay.
