Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall weather has hit hard and I am leaning into warm, cozy foods for nourishment.

Fall is harvest time for most root vegetables- carrots, squash, yams. Not only are these foods in season meaning they are fresher and cheaper, many of us also crave them as the weather gets cooler.Ā 

As much as we laugh at the popularity of pumpkin spice, the concept actually has roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In TCM, fall is associated with spice. Eating foods heavier in spice this season will feed the body and help the transition into winter. Chinese medicine is also based on balancing the yin and the yang in the body, so colder autumn days are perfectly balanced by warmer, spicier, and heartier meals.

Here’s some of my favourites:
-Roasted butternut squash and apple soup
-Green curry with veggies and tofu
-Roasted yam & kale peanut stirfry
-Miso butternut squash ramen

ā˜€ļø It’s finally feeling like summer!
Every year, I hear people talk about putting their health on pause during these warmer months. And while I’m just as excited as anyone for patio season, here are a few simple things I do to stay feeling my best all summer long:
1. Prioritize movement. Beach lounging is great—but so are hiking, biking, swimming, paddleboarding, and pickleball. Whatever your vibe, aim to move your body daily!
2. Don’t forget electrolytes. Hot weather + activity + alcohol = higher risk of dehydration. If you’re sweating, add electrolytes to your water to help stay balanced.
3. Eat with the season. Summer produce is bursting with flavor and nutrients. Take advantage of fresh fruits and veggies—farmer’s markets are your best friend.
4. Be mindful with alcohol. Patio drinks are fun, but moderation matters. Try to plan a few alcohol-free days each week, and keep things balanced on the days you are sipping.

I’m always looking for ways to sneak a little extra protein into my day šŸ’Ŗā€ØAnd when I’m on the go, protein bars are the easiest option.

But let’s be real—most store-bought bars are a letdown.
Check the label and you’ll usually see syrup or sugar listed first.

Not necessarily a bad thing—but let’s stop pretending they’re health food when they have as much sugar as a candy bar šŸ«

If I’m hiking and need the sugar boost? Great.

But if I’m at work or running errands and just need something filling with protein? I want something better.

I’ve been lucky to have done some great travelling over the last few months- here’s a few of my favorite spots. However, all the travel has been tough on my immune system. I’m currently employing all of my immune boosting tips, so here’s what my immune system reset looks like:
- Getting a ton of sleep- at least 8-10 hours per night
- So. Many. Liquids. Tea, electrolytes, green juices, smoothies, etc.
- Sweating- using my infrared sauna daily!
- Vitamin C- through both vitamin IV therapy and orally as well
- Increasing nutrient-rich foods (leafy green vegetables, salmon, yams, etc) and avoiding added sugars
