Warrior Focus
I was diagnosed with in March of 2020, a unique moment in world history. Hospitals were overcapacity, standard doctors wouldn’t see new diagnoses, loved ones couldn’t accompany or visit and my arts & entertainment household found ourselves instantly unemployed.
With desperate determination, a life-saving medical GoFundMe and Alternative and private healers willing to see me in person, I treated invasive breast cancer with 95% Alternative methods and have had No Evidence of Disease for the past three years!
They say that illness, injury and other traumas happen *for* you and not *to* you - and with the “right” perspective, you’ll see how your life was blessed by trauma and you are a better person for it. I can’t say I host that perspective.
But one thing I have learned from this unique cancer experience is you never know what your students, audience, colleagues, strangers have gone through or are going through. No matter how healthy and well-adjusted a person may appear, they may have been racked by treatments this week, they may be tolerating long-term physical pain, they may be haunted by traumas, their energy may be struggling just beneath the surface.
Warrior 2 has become an archetypal asana for me to come home to. As soon as I land in the Warrior seat, I become built to hold space for my, others’ - all the world’s experiences. Without judgement, without reaction - just a single breath and the single-pointed Focus of the Warrior.
Keep practicing.
