“The Kamloops community reached out to us and said, ‘We need you. You need to be here.’’

Loveena Chera-Tsaparas, InspireHealth CEO, and Dr. Hannah Nette , Director of Clinical Services, joined CBC Daybreak Kamloops to talk about how our new Kamloops Centre will support people navigating cancer from every angle - mind, body, and spirit – and how it came to be.

They shared how cancer patients can access free one-on-one consultations and group classes with clinicians to improve their physical and mental health through cancer, and how our virtual programs are available to everyone in the province, breaking down financial and geographic barriers for those who can’t attend in person.

We also spoke about how the Centre is truly shaped by the Kamloops community - from the early request for support, to the involvement of the Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society and Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, to the generous commitment from Anthony Salituro and the Pink Ribbon Charity Ball committee. It reflects a vision of collaboration with multiple stakeholders to create a space where cancer patients and their families can get the essential support they need to improve their health, wellbeing and outcomes…while also reducing cost to the healthcare system.

With the Kamloops Centre opening in just a couple of weeks, in-person programs will begin soon — and patients and families can already register for virtual appointments and classes.

Thanks to everyone who supported InspireHealth on Giving Tuesday. 🧡 Your contributions help keep our programs free and accessible for people navigating cancer, giving them a place to learn, connect, and feel supported.

For those who weren’t able to give yesterday, our seasonal matching campaign is still underway, helping every donation go further.

✨ Donate today and double your impact to help cancer patients, like Marni, live their best life possible!✨

https://inspirehealth.ca/give/

Marni, a mom, wife, and social worker, had always led an active life. But in November 2023, a rare stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis changed everything. Her days became a blur of medical tests, procedures, and treatment, leaving her feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and scared.

A childhood friend, a physician, introduced her to InspireHealth, and she immediately signed up. She filled her schedule virtual educational and supportive sessions, giving her opportunities to interact with others, make meaningful connections, and gain valuable insights.

She also met one-on-one with InspireHealth’s team, including a registered dietitian, a clinical counsellor, a clinical exercise therapist, and a supportive care physician as well as attending multi-session programs that provided ongoing guidance, helping her feel more supported and informed throughout her cancer journey.

On November 22, we hosted the InspireHealth Pickleball Fundraiser at D**K in Richmond. It was a fun and meaningful morning where people played a few rounds, connected with one another, and took part in the silent auction in support of those affected by cancer.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and donated! The event raised over $5,500 to support InspireHealth’s free programs & services.

A big thank-you to our sponsors—D**K, Paul & Sally Bland, Suna, Rackets & Runners, R & B Pickleball, and PickleV for helping make the day possible.

The holidays are a time for connection, community, and generosity — and there are many simple ways to support InspireHealth through the activities you’re already planning.

Here are a few ideas:

🔸 50/50 draw for InspireHealth: Add a charitable twist to your holiday gathering.

🔸 Holiday party donations: Invite guests to contribute in lieu of a host or gift exchange.

🔸 Office giving: Pool donations with colleagues or set up a friendly fundraising challenge.

🔸 Craft or bake sale: Share your creations and donate proceeds to support those affected by cancer.

🔸 Give in honour: Make a donation in honour of someone meaningful this season.

Even small gestures can make a big difference! If you have any questions or would like to explore how you can make a difference this season, contact events@inspirehealth.ca
