Off-screen hours is where we connect off the grid, make some art, and rest.

For our last series, Digital Disconnection, we're talking all about nervous system care, so you can make room to feel and express and explore what it means to build choice outside of constant availability.

Feb 6th → Swipe Fatigue : the emotional exhaustion of endless options and the ache of no real connection. (pay-what-you-can: $5+)
Feb 13th → Ghosted : the emotional impact of being left on read, ignored, or misunderstood online.
Feb 20th → Main Character Energy : exploring curated identities versus inner truths. (last event for off screen hours!)

📍 402 W Pender St. Vancouver
✏ Fridays in February, 3-5pm
📂 Max 5 participants!
Tickets: luma.com/user/decipherstudio

Your hosts:
Nikki (she/her) — mixed-race, q***r art therapist who gets it. Film background meets intersectional feminism meets helping you rewrite the stories that don't fit anymore.

Michelle (she/her) — q***r, neurodivergent, chronically ill counsellor. Eldest daughter. 10+ years holding space for survivors. Here for the messy, silenced parts of you.

We'll see you there! 🍊

Love is a practice, a verb.

Maybe this perspective feels so hard when we been taught that love means sacrifice, compliance, forgetting, and we taught ourselves to stay silent, pander, and suppress.

‘Love’ that requires us to abandon our values, parts of us and identity isn’t it.

The work of love looks like:
• Setting loving boundaries with people we care about.
• Speaking your truth even when our voice shakes.
• Honouring our anger (personal and collective) instead of emotionally/spiritually bypassing it.

This isn’t the kind of love that keeps everyone seen and get to safety.

And the kind of love that sets us and our community free.

Enduring environments that wear us down can make self-doubt feel normal. Healing begins when we stop internalizing the damage and start leaning into care, connection, and truth. 💞

For the longest time, I thought being "self-aware" meant I had my feelings handled. I could analyze everything, trace every emotion back to its source, explain exactly why I felt triggered.

But it kept me feeling stuck about my relationship concern. I was still avoiding the actual feeling. I never believed I could handle the weight of my feelings or connect to the person I was with. In conflict, that just kept me in the same patterns...

The shift happens when we stop trying to spell out what's in your head with the same set of tools and start actually listen to decipher what's in your body and connect with your relationship and environment around you. (More in the slides ✨)

We're back with another Current Faves from our team!

Maryam Dada (she/her) is a relational therapist who believes deeply in the transformative power of showing up, both for others and for yourself. 🌟 She's a bookworm and we love that she is sharing her fave authors.

Maryam creates an inviting space where you can explore what it means to be fully you and express it unabashedly. Whether you're working through life transitions, building stronger connections, or discovering who you are beneath societal and cultural expectations, Maryam's someone who sees you fully helping you process those nuances.

Your weekly digital detox's series 4 is Connection . Starting next Friday ⊹ ࣪ ˖

Returning to each other through presence, reciprocity, and attunement outside of isolation and self-sufficiency.

Off-Screen Hours is a space to step away from the noise. We take intentional breaks from screens and the grind of constant doing, slowing down long enough to feel present again.

Jan 16th → Threads between us — weaving art symbolizing connection and interdependence

Jan 23rd → Tender togetherness — art about softness, and collective rest

Jan 30th → Adult time-out — making forts, doodling nonsense, reclaiming childhood play

Expect gentle art making, reflection, and conversation as we find our way back to ourselves and each other.

📅 When: every Friday, 3-5pm (until end of February)
🎟️ Tickets: luma.com/decipherstudio
📍 Location: Decipher Studio B 🚪 room 317 - 402 west pender st.
