While dry eye may seem less severe compared to glaucoma, it can significantly impact patient outcomes. Studies indicate that not addressing dry eyes can actually contribute to the progression of glaucoma.

Biologic, or blood-derived, eye drops have been used in ophthalmic practices to treat many severe ocular surface conditions for almost half a century. They are often reserved for patients who have not responded to all other treatments or those who have severe recalcitrant ocular surface disease (OSD), but they don’t have to be a last resort.
