National Volunteer Week 2026 is here.
From April 19 to 25, we’re taking time to recognize the people who support our programs and make this work possible.
This year’s theme, Ignite Volunteerism, highlights how volunteering continues to shape communities across Canada. At the Disability Foundation and our societies, we see that impact every day through the time, skills, and care our volunteers bring.
Whether it’s building assistive devices, supporting adaptive programs, or helping behind the scenes, each contribution makes a real difference.
Thank you to all our volunteers for everything you do.
Over the coming week, we’ll be sharing a few volunteer stories from across our organizations.

A full-body move to get you going 💪

Seated burpees combine reach and movement; down to the floor, then up to the ceiling. You can hinge forward or stay supported at your chair and move at your own pace.

🎨🖌️This week in our Create-Ability Art Hive group, participants were invited to reflect on themes of identity, self-expression and personal growth through two prompts. Together, it was a safe space to reflect and honour both our inner selves, and our ongoing processes of becoming.

Our facilitators, Adler Art Therapy students Manisha and Stella, created these beautiful artworks alongside attendees.

Don’t miss our last two Create-Ability Art Hive sessions, happening April 20 and April 27 at 4:30 pm PT! All creative abilities welcome.

Try this cross-body reach from our Adaptive Fitness series 💪

This movement combines a hinge and reach to support core strength, coordination, and body awareness. Move slowly to focus on control, or build a rhythm for a more dynamic exercise.
