💥Cupping Therapy is an ancient medical technique known for providing relief of muscoskeletal pain.

Benefit include:
✴️ Increase local circulation
✴️ Release scar tissue adhesion
✴️ Relax tight muscles
✴️ Release trigger points

Here are a few points about Cupping Therapy:

📌 “Cups” can be made of either glass or silicone and the mechanism with which they work are essentially the same.

📌 These “cups”, when applied over affected muscle groups, provide Tissue Distraction Release (TDR). The theory is that interfaces between various soft tissue structures (such as muscles, tendons, nerves, fascia) can get “stuck” together by scar tissue. TDR works to release “stuck” areas freeing up the individual movement of these tissue structures.

📌 Since TDR is a novel concept, there are limited studies showing their efficacy. However, based on anecdotal evidence, patients have reported symptom relief and improvements in flexibility.

👉 Improve your run 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️with these easy-to-implement tips:

1️⃣ Incorporate a 10 minute dynamic warm-up routine that makes you sweat. See our previous post 😊

2️⃣ Remember to hydrate regularly ➡️ this may seem obvious but staying hydrated takes effort and can often be neglected. You should keep yourself hydrated💧at all times (even on rest days) if you run on a regular basis.

3️⃣ Incorporate some trail running 🌳 to give your muscles some variety. Only running on homogeneous surfaces 🛣 can lead to overuse injuries since the same repetitive stress is applied to the🦶and🦵 throughout the run. Contrarily, uneven and irregular surfaces will force you to use different muscles thus reducing the risk of repetitive stress injuries. We recommend one trail run per week!

4️⃣ Strength training for runners 👉 squats, lunges, deadlifts, and core strengthening are just some examples. Some runners will even incorporate hill runs to improve strength. We recommend one strength session per week, either at the gym or on the hills.

5️⃣ Incorporate interval running 👉 Simply put, interval runs alternate fast and slow phases (ie: high and low intensities) to help your body adapt to the stresses of running. Interval training is a great way to improve your cardiovascular endurance and speed for a race.

6️⃣ Run at least 4 times per week if you want to improve and reach your time ⏱ goals. Greater than a week between runs = lost gains ☹️

7️⃣ Wear the correct footwear 👟! More on this topic on our next post so stay tuned ➡️
