Solid dish soap is a great, plastic-free alternative to liquid dish soap. Generally, solid dish soaps require less water to produce and yield much less waste than liquid soap.⠀

I would agree that liquid soap is more convenient overall, but the chemicals used and waste that comes with it aren't my jam. ⠀
I find that solid dish soap cleans just as well as liquid and my hands don't get super dried out.⠀

I've been using solid dish soap for a few years now and I love it! ⠀
⠀
Don’t forget to store your soap in a dish that has good drainage so it can dry out between uses. This will prevent it from sitting in water and getting mushy which makes it wear out faster ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Finally tried shampoo and conditioner bars. Verdict: LOVE THEM! ⠀

Normally, I take recycled bottles back to my fave local shop to refill my shampoo and conditioner. Since Covid-19 threw a wrench into pretty every normal routine, I ended up ordering bars online. ⠀
⠀
Hydrator travel set is wonderful! It smells great, lathers up the suds like no body’s business and leaves my hair feeling clean and fresh. ⠀

They’re packaging is made from only recycled materials - simple kraft paper, cardboard boxes/envelopes and paper tape. End of life must be recyclable and/or compostable! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This Mother’s Day, consider easing the load going to the landfill by wrapping your gifts in repurposed items and reusable containers. ⠀⠀

Simple alternatives are cloth drawstring bags, reusable tote bags, recycled boxes or tins, glass jars and clay pots and furoshiki (Japanese fabric wrapping), which can double the gifts for mom if you use a scarf or pashmina. ⠀⠀

Get creative by adding ribbons and bows and fresh or dried flowers and greenery. Little details can go along way!⠀

Started making face masks.⠀
⠀
While we all should support anything that helps during this time, surgical and N95 respiratory masks must be saved for frontline workers. As for the rest of us, we should be protecting ourselves with cloth masks for our regular outings when you’re not staying home. ⠀
⠀
These masks are reusable and easily washable. Made from 2 layers of cotton with a nose wire strip for a tight fit and a pocket for an extra filter. ⠀

Waiting on some more supplies so we can keep going and make more masks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Bake some Easter egg shaped cookies. Even the kids can help decorate with homemade icing, sprinkles and edible marker ink.⠀⠀

Create your own Easter basket. Include toys, books and crafts for kids or fun food items, tea and coffee, maybe even wine or spirits for adults. ⠀⠀

The most important thing, right now, is staying safe, staying home and staying connected with your loved ones (from a distance). ⠀

Zero waste is not a priority but it is relevant and interesting to think about disposables during this time. ⠀
⠀
Unless explicitly marked, no disposable package is sterile in today’s market. That means a certain level of bacterial contamination is considered acceptable and inevitable.⠀
⠀
Take a disposable plastic bottle or a package of toilet paper. These items are going to be moving through a plant. They’re going to be put onto a pallet and transferred to a truck. That whole process is being touched by numerous hands, bacteria and dust is being collected on it throughout. ⠀
⠀
With disposables, you have no idea who has touched it. With your own reusables, you do! And they can be washed, sanitized and disinfected between every single use. ⠀
⠀
Just something to think about now and for the future. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Growing little buddies from off cuts of veggies. Not only does the repurpose those glass jars we’ve talking about recently, these will grow into larger plants with roots. ⠀
