When I stepped into one of the most senior negotiation roles, my predecessor looked at me and said:
“I hope you have a wife at home.”

It wasn’t encouragement.
It was a reminder of what people assume about women in leadership:
that you can’t do this level of work and have a life… unless someone else is carrying the invisible load.

That moment stayed with me.
And it’s part of why I wrote my first Substack article—about invisible labour, leadership, and what we’re really holding behind the scenes.

Despite the disappointing course of events in world affairs — especially recently in Iran — I want to remind you of something I still believe deeply:

There are more good people than bad people in this world. And goodness matters. 🤍✨

Take breaks when you need to. Hold your loved ones close. Breathe. Walk. Eat. Sleep. Stay connected. 🌿🫶🏼

Healing takes time. Freedom does too. Freedom will come. 🕊️💛

For my fellow Iranians living abroad — and our dearest Canadian Iranians and patients 🤍

Many of us are carrying fear, grief, anger, and helplessness as we witness the people of Iran endure brutality for simply wanting freedom.
Even if you left long ago — or were never born there — this weight is real and lived in the body.

As a Canadian Iranian physician, I’m sharing this as a gentle reminder to care for our nervous systems when everything feels heavy.
Grounding is not avoidance — it’s how we stay human and connected.

And to those with Iranian friends:
You don’t need perfect words.
Check in. Listen without fixing. Respect silence. Presence and voice matters.

You are not alone.
We carry this together. 🕊️

Charlie sending holiday love to the Zili community, friends, and family 🐾💛

This year brought its share of turmoil and uncertainty, but it also reminded me that hope lives in small moments even when things feel hard.

Grateful for a year of collaboration, for the incredible patients, friends, organizations and leaders I had the privilege to work with, and for closing the year grounded in care, connection, and community.

As we rest and reflect, a gentle reminder:
• Be kind to yourself
• Set boundaries around your time and energy
• Create space for rest, without guilt
• Surround yourself with people who feed your soul

Practice the CARE formula daily:
C – Calm the mind
A – Activate the body
R – Reinforce the body
E – Engage your soul

Make small, intentional tweaks for 2026 so you can show up fully for your communities ✨

Women often carry an invisible mental load—planning, remembering, organizing everything at home.

And in that awareness… you begin to redesign your life — one honest breath at a time.

I’m still on this journey — still peeling back layers of “should,” still learning to befriend the truth.

If you take one thing from my story, let it be this:
Don’t wait until your body, mind, or soul screams for your attention.
Start listening now.
