Meet Kenneth, our new Physiotherapist Welcome Kenneth!

Kenneth holds a Masters of Physiotherapy from Leeds Beckett University in the UK, and a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology at SFU. With a special interest in the chronic pain population, Ken utilizes manual therapy, IMS dry needling, education and active rehab to help people overcome persistent pain. He believes that pain and compensation is a systemic issue that requires
treating each person’s pain as an individualized experience of their own nervous system. It involves assessing the body as a whole, and working with a biopsychosocial approach in mind. Ultimately, the goal is to guide people back to doing their most fulfilling activity once again. Ken also has experience working with vestibular issues and concussion management, and can provide bike fitting services.

Meet Myles, our new chiropractor who will be starting with us in mid-June. Welcome Myles!

Growing up Myles participated in many sports, and as a result dealt with many different injuries. As a result, Myles was treated by Paolo- in his last two clinics before attending university. During school he knew that he wanted to work with athletes and musculoskeletal injuries. Since he had such great success with PT and DC treatment he knew that having the ability to use manual therapy techniques to help patients, as well as manipulate restricted joints he could receive the best results. Salus has always been a place that was accepting to all patients; however it has always held a great reputation for superb and effective care.

In Myles’s previous positions he has successfully treated conditions such as headaches, neck pain, back pain, and extremity issues. While he does not have a singular focus he loves treating complex issues pertaining to shoulder and hip pain, as well as chronic neck and back pain. It is Myles’s opinion that while there is not one quick fix to any issue, chiropractic care in conjunction with muscular and rehab exercises is the best approach.

Outside of work, Myles spends most of his time with 2 year old German Shepard- Luna. They spend many weekends hiking and exploring the mountains or any area large enough for her to run free. While in the mountains, Myles tests his limits rock climbing and mountaineering. Besides his fur baby, Myles devotes the rest of his time to the gym and training for long distance races including foot races and triathlon/Ironman events.

IMS or intramuscular stimulation uses fine needles (the same needles that are used in acupuncture) to treat tight muscle bands that are implicated in many chronic and painful soft tissue injuries and conditions. IMS is different from acupuncture in its application since the needle insertion is indicated by physical signs as opposed to the meridians or energy paths of Chinese acupuncture. IMS is based on known scientific, neurophysiologic principles.

IMS can help:
- Improve blood flow
- Reset muscle length
- Reduce tension
- Reduce pain
- Improve mobility

IMS can help treat conditions such as:
- Neck pain
- Tension headaches
- Low back pain
- Tennis elbow
- Calf pain
- And many more!

At Salus Physiotherapy, our therapists David, Parham, Jennifer, Wilson, and John are trained in IMS and use it as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan to help clients get back to doing the things they love.
