“Looking beyond behaviour to unexpressed needs”.

Behaviour is communication. Instead of trying “extinguish” behaviours, we can ask:
- why is this child acting this way?
- what need isn’t being met?
- how might they be feeling?

So many areas of Speech Language Pathology that many don’t know about.

What this doesn’t say, and is related to swallowing, is that SLPs are also qualified to supporting eating difficulties (such as picky eating), and feeding disorders.

Always good to think about what kinds of toys to play with.

I’m asked almost daily which toys are best to promote speech and language - and I usually say the ones without batteries! But the truth is- different toys offer different opportunities and I love this toy breakdown by !
