BC Cancer operates six regional cancer centres, providing assessment and diagnostic services, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and supportive care. Nurse Practitioner Week is Nov 10 - 16 and we are giving recognition and thanks to the many Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who lead and work in health care programs and services across BC Cancer!

At BC Cancer, NPs work in various settings with diverse populations and manage care during active treatment, palliative care, and after-cancer care. They also provide mentorship to medical and NP trainees, nursing and allied health staff, and take part in research clinical trials and drive patient-focused research.

We are concluding the celebration of Medical Radiation Technology (MRT) Week by highlighting some of the incredible PET Technologists across BC Cancer.

PET Technologists are responsible for all aspects of clinical PET/CT scanning, including image acquisition, data reconstruction and image review for diagnostic quality prior to patient release. PET Technologists prepare patients for the procedure, monitor their vital signs and administer radiopharmaceuticals. The position entails vigilant radiation safety practices and the operation and quality control of PET/CT systems.

Happy International Day of Medical Physics!

A special shout out to the following professionals who support staff, patients and their families across BC Cancer:
- Senior Medical Physicists/Medical Physicists (MPs)
- Physics Assistants
- Machinists/Tool and Die Makers
- Graduate Students, Fellows and Residents
- Radiation Therapy Service Technicians

MPs provide physics and other specialized skills to support the technical requirements of planning and treatment of Radiation Therapy patients. At BC Cancer, MPs provide direct support to patient treatment, including external beam, brachytherapy and other specialized radiation techniques.

We're continuing our celebration of Medical Radiation Technology (MRT) Week by highlighting the incredible Mammography Technologists across BC Cancer.

Did you know that BC Cancer’s Screening Mammography program has a Mobile Operations team who travel throughout British Columbia? From small towns to rural communities, across all regions, the Mobile Unit travels all roads, allowing the team to impact women’s health throughout the province.

Natasha is a Mammography Technologist with the Mobile Operations team, and was drawn to the profession for the opportunity to support people in taking care of their health, and in being a health advocate. She has found great fulfillment in her work, saying, “I love the aspect of helping women and making a difference in their lives.”
