Sometimes, care begins in a training room. Someone learns how to notice when a person they care about is struggling, asks a hard but caring question, and helps connect them to support. This is how su***de prevention takes root in everyday life. Support the moments that make connection possible.

The Crisis Centre of BC is grateful for today’s announcement confirming continued federal funding for the 9-8-8: Su***de Crisis Helpline.

“Today’s announcement is a powerful vote of confidence in community-based su***de prevention and crisis care,” said our Executive Director, Stacy Ashton, speaking at the 9-8-8 funding announcement earlier today.

Our callers are parents, youth, veterans, elders, and caregivers: people who are not looking for answers, but for someone to listen and help them stay safe. Continued investment ensures that when someone reaches out, there will be a trained responder on the other end of the line, ready to listen.
