We lost Byron in 2023, but his spirit is the fuel behind every mile we run. Cancer affects 1 in 2 Canadians, and for the families in our clinic, the fight is daily. We’re returning to this challenge because the mission isn’t over. Let’s make Year 2 even more impactful than the first.

Join team PhysioWorks to participate or support us through donations via the link in bio 💚

We’re back! Last year, 60 of you raised nearly $11,000 for cancer research in honour of Byron. 🕊️

This year, our goal is 100 participants moving 30 minutes a day. To celebrate our second year, we’re starting a new tradition: our first-ever official Team PhysioWorks training shirts for the ‘Original 100’ recruits! Stay tuned for the design reveal 👀

Join team Physioworks as we participate again this year in Workout to Conquer Cancer to raise funds for cancer research. Visit link in bio to join our team - let’s move together in honour of Byron and help make a difference! 💚

CLINICAL PILATES

Did you know some of our physios offer clinical pilates?

STOTT pilates is a contemporary approach to the original exercise system. It integrates modern principles of exercise and rehabilitation, and includes modifications that allow for this technique to be appropriate for people with varying abilities and body types.

Have you ever run a little longer than normal? Or lifted heavier weights than before? It’s common to feel a little pain after exercise but how do you know if it’s good pain or bad?

Good pain is called delayed onset muscle soreness, or “DOMS”. This is a muscle ache, soreness, or stiffness that you feel 24 to 48 hours after activity and subsides over a few days.

Bad pain, like from a sports injury, are often acute or chronic. Acute injuries tend to be sharp at onset, with associated swelling, bruising, and loss of range of motion. Chronic injuries can happen over time commonly through repeating poor movement patterns. There may be swelling and your joints themselves may hurt. Also, this pain persists and does not go away after a few days. If you’re unsure it’s always best to see a professional.

For the families that want to keep their children active this Spring Break, we have some suggestions that are guaranteed to be fun for the whole family:

• Go on a family hike
• Check out your local community centre
• Try a climbing gym
• Go indoor skating

Whatever you choose, remember not to overdo it to avoid injuries (but if you do, you know where to find us 😉)!

Today is Rare Disease Day, a day where we raise awareness for the over 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease.

When a disease is rare, often proper diagnosis and treatment gets delayed, causing additional harm and stress to those already suffering.

At PhysioWorks we’ve loved, cared for, and treated many individuals whose conditions fall in this category. The more advocacy and awareness we spread, the lesser the chance others may have to wait months or even years to get the treatment they need.
