On Thursday, March 6th the Ministry of Health released an update on the publicly funded IVF Program including the start date and eligibility requirements.

The publicly funded IVF program will provide access to one-time funding, up to $19,000, for eligible BC residents. Applications open July 2, 2025.

Please visit Publicly Funded In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Program - Province of British Columbia for more information such as eligibility requirements and the application process.

What Olive Fertility Centre patients need to know:

If you are interested in funding but have not seen a physician since March 8, 2024, please follow these steps:

If you are not a patient of Olive, please visit our webpage www.olivefertility.com/how-to-book for information on how to become a patient.

If you are a patient of Olive but haven’t seen a physician since March 8th, 2024, please call or email your Patient Care Coordinator to arrange an appointment.

If you have seen a physician at Olive since March 8th, 2024, and you meet the eligibility requirements listed on the website, we will send you more information through your patient portal once we have finalized details from the Ministry of Health.

All the information we have on the program can be found on the Ministry of Health website listed above.

We know that everyone will be anxious to learn more about the waitlist. Unfortunately, we have no further information from the BC Ministry of Health about how they want us to order patients when submitting their applications. The BC Ministry of Health has stated that they are developing a process for us to follow, and we will update when we know more.

Once we have more information from the Ministry of Health, we will be reaching out to those who qualify with next steps.

We are very pleased with this announcement and understand that this funding and information is very important to you. We will update you as soon as we know more.

I will be lighting a candle at 7pm this evening, to reflect and honour all who have lost a pregnancy or infant. May they feel the light, love and warmth tonight, as they navigate the lonely path of grief and mourning.

Father's day can be a loaded holiday when you're struggling through the infertility trenches. While usually thought of as a time for barbecues, ties, corny jokes and naps it’s also meant to be special. A day to really luxuriate in that role of being a father. But it's also a day where our men feel the full weight of not fitting in.

So this weekend as you muddle through the posts about barbecues, another pair of bad socks, and macaroni cards know that we see you and are sending you strength. Today we remind you to take a moment to acknowledge your ache. Hug your loved ones extra tight and allow this feeling to wash over you. Open up to those in your circle about how hard this has been and then, when you turn towards your dreams of a child again, may you do so with the strength of your circle behind you.

For months, Canadian parents have shared stories of pandemic anxiety and stress. Now, just-published research suggests the strain on new mothers in particular has translated into more postpartum individuals seeking mental health support after giving birth.

Today is International Bereaved Mother's Day. You become a mother once the expectation for a child grows in your heart. Long before you hear a heartbeat. Long before you would bring a child home. Before they learn to walk. Before they leave for college. You are a mother the moment that expectation takes form in your mind.

Being a mother does not stop when your child is gone.
For all of those mothers who never got to hear a heartbeat, we see you. For all those mothers who never got to hear their baby cry, we see you. For all the mothers who never got to take their baby home, we see you. For all the mothers who have lost a child, we see you.

You are not alone. We honour you and your beautiful children today and always. We wish you peace and support in your grief as you continue on. Please reach out if you need a safe place to be. We are here.
