Helping Spirit Lodge Society is the leading Aboriginal women's organization in the Lower Mainland to alleviate family violence and enhance community wellness through a traditional, holistic approach. Such resources include our transition house, second stage housing, third stage/ subsidized housing and an employment program.

The Housing Outreach Worker provides trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centered support to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Working within a second-stage or transitional housing environment, the Housing Outreach Worker assists residents in maintaining stable housing, accessing community resources, and achieving personal goals related to safety, wellness, and independence. The role focuses on housing stability, advocacy, life-skills development, and crisis intervention. The Housing Outreach Worker works collaboratively with internal staff, external service providers, landlords, and community partners to ensure clients receive coordinated and comprehensive support.

To provide calm, trauma-informed support to Indigenous women and children during overnight hours
• Maintain a safe, secure, and respectful environment throughout the night
• Conduct regular safety and wellness checks of the house and residents

This is a time to lay down what has been heavy…
To sit in circle.

To listen.
To remember who we are.

There’s Still Time to Join Us

Helping Spirit Lodge Society is excited to welcome community members to an upcoming interactive workshop with Curtis Ahenakew.

This two-hour gathering invites participants to explore how life’s experiences, even the difficult ones can become stepping stones toward strength, clarity, and renewed direction. Through reflective writing and guided exercises, attendees will gain practical tools to shift perspective and build personal resilience.

Helping Spirit Lodge Society invites community members to join Curtis Ahenakew for an afternoon of reflection, strength, and practical tools for growth.

Through guided writing and visualization, participants will learn how life’s hard chapters can become fuel for insight, resilience, and renewed direction. What once felt heavy can become momentum.
