Heart Rate profile while doing 10 x 10 summer speed. Got 7 of them in today and it sure does build aerobic capacity. Might have pushed a little hard on the last one with a HR spiking up to 170bpm. Easy on the joints and builds lower body strength and capacity to increase sprint and speed volume over time. With rest this work out only took me 21min and change and each set of 10x10 stayed bw 67 and 74seconds.

Always a good idea to dona random check on the ole blood pressure and HR. When was the last time u checked yours? You can control BP by managing stress, eating well, exercising smart and proper sleep habits. If u have higher than normal BP and u feel all other areas of your life are good, might be a good idea to go and see a doctor :)

Im learning block starts really for the first time, bc i was a middle distance runner as a teenager and no one spent time with me building specific strength coordination and speed that i now feel is crucial for all levels of running. To feel more explosive and to get into a good acceleration posture, correct and well times arm mechanics is key. has taught me the importance leading with the arms and focusing on a strong forward “flick” of the lead arm as you initiate out of the blocks. This really sets u up well for a more optimal body position in the next few accereration steps!

Testing out some moderate burst efforts on the trainer. Need to shoot in slow mo next time for better frame rate but got some decent still shots of take off, early swing, late swing and and initial ground contact. The belt is even more smooth when u elevate the front end. Made the mistake of putting 45lb pumper plates under the wheels the first time. Almost shot off the back end real quick. 15lb bumper plates seem to be a happy medium at the moment. Notice the tight arms. That is due to being a trained distance runner as well as not feeling comfortable with the distance i have from my arms to the ceoss bar of the machine. Over time i hope to open this time im getting there

Quick warm up into some tempo speed work. Testing out the newly arrived treadmill. The trainer is suprisingly quiet and smooth. It has minimal drag in the belt and once you get moving it wants you to move fast. Did 3 x (3 x 200m with 100m walk). Coming off a couple achilles issues so using the trueform was a great way to keep impact stresses low when running. Time to chnage these endurance legs into more speed legs.
