Welcome Jenna to the team! 👋🏃♀️
We’re excited to introduce Jenna (she/her) — a graduate of the Master of Physical Therapy / PhD program at Western University, where her research focused on inflammation in knee osteoarthritis.
Jenna grew up playing hockey (as a goalie) and rugby, until a significant leg injury sidelined her from competitive sport. She later found running as a source of stress relief and went on to compete on the Varsity Cross-Country and Track & Field teams at Western.
This experience sparked her passion for female athlete health throughout the lifespan and endurance athletes. Her clinical and research focus includes:
-Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs)
-Pelvic floor health
-Postpartum return to sport
-Running related injuries
-Knee injuries and osteoarthritis
Jenna is currently a postdoctoral fellow at UBC, where she continues to study knee injuries in females by combining her expertise in osteoarthritis and female athlete health.
Clinically, she completed a sport physiotherapy + postdoctoral fellowship at Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic, where she worked as the primary physiotherapist for varsity endurance teams (cross country, track & field, rowing, swimming, and cheerleading). She also practices pelvic floor physiotherapy and enjoys working with individuals of all backgrounds and activity levels.
Outside the clinic (and the lab!), you can find Jenna training and competing in national-level cross country, track & field, and road races, or out cycling and hiking.
Here Jenna demonstrates one of her favourite exercises for knee strength and control: the Elevated Step Down.
