Today we celebrate the strength, determination, and impact of women everywhere.

This International Women’s Day, we’re reflecting on inspiring figures like Chantal Petitclerc, a trailblazer in wheelchair racing whose career demonstrates perseverance, leadership, and excellence.

After a spinal cord injury at age 13, Ms. Petitclerc discovered wheelchair racing and went on to become one of the most decorated Paralympians in history. She won 21 Paralympic medals, including 14 gold, and broke numerous world records during her career.

Beyond the track, she has continued to advocate for accessibility and inclusion. Today, she serves as a Canadian Senator, using her voice to help shape policies that support people with disabilities and strengthen communities across the country.

Her story is just one powerful reminder of the strength, determination, and contributions women bring to our communities, our workplaces, and our society every day.

In case you were curious where the count is at, Canada already has three medals!

We have two medals in Para Alpine Skiing, and one in Para Biathlon!

The first medal was won by Kalle Eriksson and his guide, Sierra Smith, in men's visually impaired downhill. Eriksson won silver for his efforts. An hour later, Kurt Oatway won bronze in men's sitting!

Natalie Wilkie won silver for women's standing sprint biathlon.

And thats just day 1.

Recently, Chris Erskine finished up a chair and he had this to say about it:

Karen recently received her new Sunrise Q700M with voice-activated power seating and the Vigo alternative drive and it’s been one of the proudest moments of my 25 years doing this work.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Karen for about 20 years and have provided her last two chairs. Previously, we trialed a head array system, and while it was workable, it just wasn’t the right fit.

Then, at a Sunrise course, Kennedy introduced the Vigo. The moment I saw it, I knew we had to try it. I felt confident it could give Karen back the control she’d been losing.

On our first trial, we started in her driveway to get her comfortable. She did incredibly well. Near the end, I asked if she wanted me to take over and get her back inside. She looked at me and said, “Nope, I got this.”

She drove herself in the front door, down the hall, through the kitchen, into the living room, turned around and did it all again.

That short trip is something she hasn’t been able to do independently for years. And she did it on day one.

We paired the system with custom seating from our PPS team and the support of two amazing OTs to make sure everything was dialed in perfectly.

Moments like this are why we do what we do. Watching someone regain independence, even in ways that might seem small to others, is everything.

Karen, thank you for trusting me all these years. 💙

Thinking About a Stairlift? Here’s Why It Might Be the Best Decision for Your Home.

Installing a stairlift can:

✔️ Restore confidence moving between floors
✔️ Prevent dangerous falls
✔️ Reduce strain on knees and joints
✔️ Allow you to stay in the home you love
✔️ Provide peace of mind for family members

Modern stairlifts are quiet, safe, and designed to blend seamlessly into your home. Installation is typically quick, and many models fold away when not in use.

If you’re considering a stairlift or want to explore your options, we’re here to help.
